MAY 23, 2007 CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS 25 WEST MAIN STREET Case No.: CA007-0001 Applicant: Puget Sound Energy Request: A request for a special exception for utilities from the city's wetland related critical area regulations for the site preparation and construction of an electrical distribution substation within an existing switching substation and extension of distribution circuits. The distribution circuits would be installed within a common trench through an existing wetland connecting to existing overhead electrical utility corridor paralleling the Interurban Trail. The installation and replacement of circuits will continue underground to the north along the western edge of the Interurban Trail and within various wetland buffers. Location: Generally, the project occurs within the existing electrical transmission substation and along approximately 2,800 lineal feet of the Puget Sound Energy (PSE) right-of-way (ROW) and the intervening area between these two. The existing substation is located at 1002 - 37tH Street NW, on the south side of 37th Street NW between the Interurban Trail & UP Railroad and SR 167. The project is in the NW'/4 of Section 1, T 21 N, R4E, WM. Case No.: APL07-0001 Applicant: Bio-Recycle Request: An appeal of the Planning Director's administrative interpretation of whether a "septage management service" may be allowed within the City of Auburn, in accordance with Auburn City Code Section 18.02.040. The appeal is filed by Robert G. Casey of Eisenhower & Carlson, PLLC on behalf of Bio Recycling Corporation. Case No.: VAR07-0002 Applicant: City of Auburn (Valley Regional Fire Authority) Paul Berry, Project Manager Request: A variance request from Section 18.40.040.E.5 ACC to reduce the required rear yard setback of the property from 30 feet to 10 feet, and the required side yard setback from 30 feet to 5 feet. Pursuant to Section 18.40.E.5 ACC, for any P-1 (Public Use District) zoned property which abuts R (Residential) zoned property, a minimum 30 foot setback shall apply. The Valley Regional Fire Authority proposes to construct a new 11,615 square foot fire station on the existing .91 acre property pending the outcome of the variance request. The property is located at 4910 A Street SE, and is identified by King County Tax Parcel #362104-9018.
