Meeting Minutes
Present: Nancy Colson, Linda Elliott, Amanda Flanery, Pat Gallagher, Patricia Judd, Leslie Moore, Tanya
Rottle, Laurel Siegmund, Donna Smart, Councilmember Rich Wagner, Cultural Arts Mgr Laurie Rose;
Visual/Public Art Coordinator Maija McKnight, Parks Director Daryl Faber
Absent:, Kristen Brock, Cary Davidson, Debby Deal (excused)
Call to order: President Linda Elliott called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m.
Approval of Minutes and Introductions
Commissioner Linda Elliott called for approval of the August minutes. Commissioner Laurel
Siegmund moved the August minutes be approved as submitted. Commissioner Pat Judd
seconded the motion. Motion approved.
Ms. Elliott welcomed Parks, Arts & Recreation Director Daryl Faber.
Committee/Panel Reports
Chair Report
Planning Session for Arts Commission "A Year in Review/A Year Ahead" report for Council
Planning and Community Development Committee (PCD) 9/22/08 meeting. Councilman Rich
Wagner shared ideas for best format and approach for report to PCD. Discussion included what
topics to discuss, what information to include in agenda packets and what information to bring to
hand out. Major topics were determined as pertinent for review for PCD. Each committee chair
will give a report of what the year(s) ahead might include for programs and community
initiatives. Ms. Elliott called for the agendas of upcoming committee meetings to include
planning sessions for PCD meeting. She and staff will meet the week before to review
presentation. Staff will create a PowerPoint for mission/vision statements.
III. Staff Reports
Cultural Arts Manager Laurie Rose reported the advance BRAVO ticket sales for upcoming
season are very strong, resulting in significant increase in subscribers from season's past and
overall revenues for the month of August. The Auburn Ave Theater will open its season this
month, as well.
Visual/Public Art Coordinator Maija McKnight and Director Faber reported on the progress of the
Golf Course public art project. The installation is expected in November or December.
Ms. McKnight gave a report of her first month in her position, outlining the projects she is
working on, has completed, and members of the community she has met.
IV. Other/New Business
There being no other business, Ms. Elliott adjourned the meeting at 6:04pm.
