COMMISSION
POLICE DEPARTMENT
Gail Solberg reported that we initiated the new entry-level police recruiting process
(which was approved through the Commission during the October meeting). Our first
monthly test will take place November 15, 2006 and we will be testing on a monthly
cycle from that point forward. In addition, we will also have monthly oral boards so our
eligibility list will be updated each month. The Civil Service rules were also amended to
permit entry-level police candidates to apply once every six months (this was also
approved by the Commission in the October meeting). Currently we have 14 candidates
taking the test on November 15tH
Solberg also gave an update on lateral police recruitment. We currently have two
candidates in the background stage and will be establishing a new lateral list based on
interviews that were held on November 8, 2006. During the November 8, 2006 oral
boards we had six candidates.
Solberg reported that the Sergeants test was conducted on October 26, 2006. We had
eight candidates participate in the process and seven candidates passed. Those seven
candidates establish our new Sergeants eligibility list.
