The meeting was called to order at 5:50 p.m. Those in attendance
were Committee Chairman Rich Wagner, Councilmember Pat Burns, and
Councilmember Mike Weekley. Staff in attendance were Public
Works Director Frank A. Currie, Assistant Public Works Director
Alice I. Conrad, and City Engineer Dennis Dowdy.
ISSUES
A. RESOLUTION NO. 2407, RELEASE OF UTILITY EASEMENT ON
PROPERTY LOCATED APPROXIMATELY 500 FEET WEST OF LUND
ROAD, JUST NORTH OF SR 18, AND MORE PARTICULARLY
DESCRIBED AS THE EAST 15 FEET OF THE WEST 22.5 FEET OF
THE NORTH 380.0 FEET, CITY SHORT PLAT NO. SP-5-85 (SEE
MAP ATTACHED)
Assistant Public Works Director Alice I. Conrad
described Resolution No. 2407~ the release of a utility
easement. The Survey Section of the Engineering
Division has confirmed that the current easement is
located in error and is needlessly encumbering private
property. The City staff will pursue an easement on
another property where the utility lines are located
and requested that the Public Works Committee suppert a
release of the unnecessary easement.
The Committee recommended approval to the Council at
their May 3, 1993 meeting.
B. ORDINANCE NO. 4622, PROHIBITED PARKING AREAS - SEVERE
SIGHT-DISTANCE LIMITATIONS FOR EASTBOUND TRAFFIC ON 2ND
ST. S.E. APPROACHING THE STOP CONDITION AT 'F' ST. S.E.
(SEE MAP ATTACHED)
Assistant Public Works Director Alice I. Conrad and
City Engineer Dennis Dowdy presented Ordinance No. 4622
for prohibited parking areas. Accident history
indicated potential sight distance restrictions on the
corner of 2nd St. SE and "F" St. SE, and a meeting with
concerned residents of the neighborhood confirmed this
to be a neighborhood problem. To satisfy design
guidelines and safety concerns, it is necessary to
request that parking be prohibited in an area 150 feet
north of 2nd Street S.E. and 100 feet south of 2nd
Street S.E.
The Committee recommended approval to the Council at
their May 3, 1993 meeting.

C. ORDINANCE NO. 4626, STREET VACATION - V-01-92 -
APPROVES VACATION OF PUBLIC STREET RIGHT-OF-WAY KNOWN
AS 32ND ST. S.E., WITHIN THE CITY OF AUBURN (SEE MAP
ATTACHED)
Assistant Public Works Director Alice I. Conrad
presented a revised map and explained the proposed 32nd
St. SE Street Vacation. Committee Chairman Rich Wagner
led the discussion about the potential future use of
the street, and a decision was made to reserve final
judgement until after the City Council public hearing.
The Committee forwarded Ordinance No. 4626 to the
Council at their May 3, 1993 meeting.
D. PUBLIC HEARING FOR STREET VACATION - V-01-92 - FOR
AUBURN ELECTRIC AT 32ND ST. S.E.
This item was discussed in conjunction with Issue C
above.
E. CHANGE ORDER NO. I FOR KODO CONSTRUCTION, LID 345,
CONTRACT 92-14, PR 501 IN THE AMOUNT OF THIRTEEN
THOUSAND SEVEN HUNDRED EIGHTY-ONE DOLLARS AND FIFTY-
NINE CENTS ($13,781.59)
City Engineer Dennis Dowdy presented Change Order No. 1
and explained items I through 7. Concerns were
expressed by Council members concerning the costs
related to items 6 and 7 (cedar wood fencing). More
information was requested for review by the Public
Works Committee before this issue is presented to the
City Council.
F. FINAL PAY ESTIMATE FOR KODO CONSTRUCTION, LID 345
CONTRACT 92-14, PR 501 IN THE AMOUNT OF FOURTEEN
THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED EIGHTY-SEVEN DOLLARS AND SIX
CENTS ($14,487.06)
The Committee questioned Issue E, related to actual
construction costs and total amounts, and requested
more information for review prior to the presentation
of this Issue to the City Council.

DISCUSSION
UPDATE ON SIDEWALK LID 345 - PR 501
This item was removed from the agenda and was not presented
to the Public Works Committee at this time.
There being no further business to come before the Council, the
meeting was adjourned at 6:15 p.m.
