First order of business was to approve the minutes of the December 15th, 2009
meeting. A correction was made to correct the spelling of Robert Myers name listed
under expiring AAB members, the minutes were then approved.
Update on the airport storm water design.
Mr. Garcia and Mr. Shipman spoke with Reid Middleton who presented a
proposal which Mr. Garcia sent to the City of Auburn for review. The project has two
phases and Mr. Garcia suggested storm water management be involved. Mr. Peloza
volunteered to introduce the Reid Middleton proposal to storm water management.
Information gathered by completion of the layout design would be beneficial for future
construction on the airport. Mr. Ward said NW Hangars has camera documentation
available from their construction on the south end and said he would be willing to share
that with the City if it would help in the process. Questions regarding the proposal
should be directed to Mr. Garcia and he will pass those questions on to the City.
Update on the Rules and Regs.
Assistant City Attorney, Steve Gross, has reviewed and returned a copy of the
Rules and Regulations with comments to Mr. Garcia. Mr. Garcia will send those
suggestions to all board member by email.
Hangar rows 9& 10 roof repair.
Dave Ward from NW Hangars, who have been building hangars since 1977,
presented a roof repair proposal for hangar rows 9& 10. He mentioned that the perlin
beams need to be straightened before a new roof is installed. He also suggested a
solid vapor barrier, secured by double backed tape be used to prevent air from entering.
A total replacement of the insulation would be less expensive instead of a partial
replacement or patching. Mr. Peloza requested a second proposal by the end of the
week be sent to Mr. Garcia that would include total insulation replacement and gutter
replacement.
Traffic pattern for noise abatement.
A new traffic pattern for fixed wing and rotorcraft was presented in a handout
given by Mr. Garcia. The new pattern will be listed in the next Airport Facilities Directory
(AFD) publication and also to the website AirNav.com. A copy of the new established
pattern will be sent to all helicopter schools. The change would then allow the FAA to
follow up on complaints if given the date, time and registration # of the helicopter.
Complaints continue to be received from residents regarding Guardian One and DOD
helicopters. Mr. Peloza suggested a copy of the pattern be sent to King County
Council, specifically Pete Von Reichbauer, and enlist his assistance to communicate
the changes with the King County Sheriffs department.
Super Unicom update.
Mr. Shipman mentioned that moving the Super Unicom could cause potential
damage due to the fragile state of the Unicom and because of its age, and limited repair
being available. A motion was made and unanimously approved that the Super Unicom
remains in place and to extend the height of the antennae to improve pilot reception
west of the SeaTac Mall.
New Business
A review of the Airport Working Capital for year end 2009 will be done at the next
meeting.
Mr. Garcia and Mr. Babcock volunteered to be the nominating committee to seek
a replacement for the vacant AAB position.
Reid Middleton construction engineer and Steve Burke should be meeting to put
a package together for the runway lighting replacement project which includes the REIL
lights and white runway lights. Once that is done, the job will be put out for bid. A
proposal should come in by March with construction possibly by May or June.
Comments
Pond netting issue will be discussed at the next meeting.
Mr. Garcia said the next major project at the airport will be crack sealing.
Meeting adjourned at 9:09 AM
