Meeting Date: March 16, 2010
Time: 8:00 A.M.
Place: Northwest Aviation College
First order of business was to approve the amended minutes of January 19, 2010. The motion was made and
minutes approved for Januazy 19lh meeting. Mr. Myers mentioned that his name was incorrectly spelled on the
agenda for March 16, 2010.
Airport Storm Water Design Update:
Mr. Shipman said the project is on schedule. Some delay was happening due to additional requirements
for Reid Middleton but we saw no reason that the project would be delayed. Ms. Coleman asked if Reid
Middleton had responded to the additions from storm engineers. Mr. Shipman responded that he was not sure
and that Mr. Garcia would have to be contacted.
Bi-Annual Review of the Airport Rules and Regulations:
Mr. Shipman stated that both he and Mr. Garcia had met with City Attomey Steve Gross to ask about
the enforcement and review of the regulations. The meeting went well and the outcome was that AMG would
need to review all leases and permits and separate what would fall under landlord enforcement or a more serious
violation that would need a citation including fines issued. Mr. Shipman said tbat AMG over the next few
weeks would perform this audit and include the findings with the rules and regulations ro Mc Gross. He also
stated that Mr. Gross would be changing the language of the 12.56 code to have better connection between the
Code and Rules and Regulations. This should all be accomplished before the next meeting Mr. Shipman said.
Hangar Rows 9&10 Roofs
We have been approached with another two possible fixes to the leaking problems of the roofs at
hangars 9 and 10. Mr. Shipman continued to explain and illustrate a 3 layered spray on product that would
encase the roof, seams and hardware providing a leak proof seal. This product has a 5-15 year warranty and is
approximately 1/3 the cost of replacement. Mr. Shipman continued to explain another product that Mr. Buck (a
contractor bidding on the roof replacement) suggested could be another option. Shipman drew a side view
design of the hangars showing a one piece cover for the roof. This product would be attached so that no holes
are drilled into the new product and that it runs into the gutter system providing a leak proof scenario. Mr.
Shipman stated that he was not as familiar with this product but was informed the cost would be above the labor
and material for replacement cost. Mr. Shipman also stated that with total replacement more costs aze involved
including disposal and revenue loss, with the temporary displacement of 80 tenants. Ms. Coleman asked
management to obtain more information on both products; a determination could then be made if iYs more
advantageous to not bid for a total roof replacement. Mr. Potter stated it seems to be the way to go if these other
products fix the problem, have extended warranties all without disrupting tenants. All board members agreed.
Traffic Pattern Option for Noise Abatement
Mc Shipman stated that the traffic pattem change has helped alleviate most noise complaints. A few
stray helicopters still have yet to leam the pattern Shipman said, those aze informed of the new pattern when
they land.
Nominating Committee for Vacant Positions on the AAB Board
Mr. Shipman informed the Board that he had no updated information.
Runway Lighting replacement Project
Again Mr. Shipman had no updated information. Ms Coleman stated her concem that the State may not
be able to meet their 2'/z percent match because of possible budget problems. However should not affect the
project.
New Business:
Northwest Aviation Trade Show
Mr. Shipman said that it seemed to him that Saturday was busy with a good showing of attendees.
Sunday was much slower. Shipman also noticed that the amount of booths had dropped, but overall it was a
good conference as he attended some informative conferences.
Storm Water Pond/Netting Issues
Mr. Shipman informed the board of continued increases of bird populations at the airpor[. Water fowl
are present on the west side of the runway where water seems to be stationary and is an issue for attracting more
and more ducks. Shipman had no thoughts of why this year was worse other than the water is not draining out
of the area as it has the past few years. Ms. Coleman asked specifically where the water was collecting and was
going to inform storm water department to look at the issue.
