A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AUBURN, WASHINGTON, AMENDING THE CITY OF
AUBURN FEE 3CHEDULE, TO ADJUST FOR RENTAL
HOUSiNG BUSINESS LICENSE FEES
WHEREAS, in connectiort with the municipal functions and operations of the City
of Aubum, the City provides various public services, a number of which entail fees; and
WHEREAS, the City Council provided for adoption of a City of Auburn Fee
Schedules in the adoption of Ordinance No. 5707; and
WHEREAS, in the course of reviewing City fees, and in keeping with the
philosophy of setting City fees in amounts reflective of actual costs, and in further
keeping with the intent to make City fees and charges consistently accessible, it is
appropriate to revise and amend the schedule as it relates to rental housing business
and license fees.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN,
WASHINGTON HEREBY RESOLVES, as follows:
Section 1. Amendment to fee Schedule. The Fee Schedule relating to the
City of Auburn Rental Housing Business and License Fees is amended as follows:
J. Rental Hous6ng Business License Fees (Per Ordinance No. 5882, Reso/u_ tion
No. 4272 and Resolution No. 4424):
(1) The fee for a license to operate rental housing businesses in the City, as
defined in Chapter 5.22 of the Auburn City Code (ACC) shall be based on the total
number of units as follows:
(a) One to four dwelling units: $53.00 peryear;
(b) Five to 24 dwelling units: $106.00 per year;
(c) Twenty-five or more dwelling units: $212.00 per year.
(2) The fee for a license to operate rental housing businesses in the city shall _
~ be for the license year fro Januarv 1 to December 31, and
each applicant must pay the full fee for the current license year or any portion thereof
~ during which the applicant has engaged in the operation of rental housing businesses.

(3) The rental housing business.license fee required by this chapter is in lieu
of, and not in addition to, the general business license fee required by Chapters 5.05
and 5.10 of the Aubum City Code (ACC); provided, however, that any person required
to obtain a rental housing business license must also obtain a general: business license,
af no cost, pursuant to Chapters 5.05 and 5.10 of the Aubum City Code (ACC).
(4) Notwithstanding the provisions of sub-section (1) of this section, the fee
for operating rental housing facilities for any single individual, partnership, corporation or
entity shall not exceed $424.00 per yeaflicense period.
For the 2010 calendar vear only, rental housing business license renewals.shall
be valid for _the peciod Julv.1, 2010 to December 31, 2010 subiect fo the paymenf of
one-half of the sqecified fee. For the 2011 calendar vear and subsequent calendar
years, rental housing business license renewals shall be for the period Januarv 1
through December 31:
Section 2. Sunset Provisions. The City Clerk is authorized and directed to
remove ftom the listed City of Auburn Fee Schedule those provisions of this Resolution
that have expired or are no longer in effect, re-listing as is consistent with good pract'ice.
Section 3. Implementation. The Mayor is hereby authorized to implement
such administrative procedures as may be necessary to carry out the directives :of this
legislation.
Section 4. Effective Date. This Resolution shall be in full force and affect
upon passage and signatures hereon, and on July 1, 2010.
