Auburn Airport Advisory Board Minutes for June 15, 2010

Place: Northwest Aviation College
A quorum was established and the minutes of May 18, 2010 approved.
Airport Storm Water Design Update: '
Ms. Coleman reported she has received the updated contract and scope of work from Reid
Middleton and has sent the update to Storm Water for final review and comments. She will then move the
contract through committees for the Mayor to sign.
Bi-Annual Review of the Airport Rules and Regulations:`
Ms. Coleman, Mr. Gazcia and Mr. Shipman met with Assistant City Attorney, Steve Gross to
review changes regarding implementation and enforcement of the Rules and Regulations. Mr. Gross has
prepared a change to the Auburn City Code as it refers to infractions of the Rules and Regulations. A meeting
with the City of Auburn Police Department, Code Enforcemerit, Ms. Coleman, legal and Mr. Gazcia will be
scheduled soon.
Hangar Rows 9&10 Roofs
Mr.. Garcia spoke with Tom of R& M Steel regarding specs for roof materials and installation which
have not yet been received. Mr. Garcia wi11 contact R& M Steel again and request the specifications within two
weeks. It was suggested that other companies with the same product be contacted regarding the roof material
specifications and for installation. Once this information is received the.project can go out for bid.
Runway L-ighting replacement Project
The runway lighting project bid process is complete and Totem Electric of Tacoma, WA was the lowest
qualified bid. Reid Middleton is preparing a letter of proposal to the City of Auburn for this project. A letter of
award for the airport grant from the State of Washington is expected soon. A project start date of August or
September is anticipated.
Storm Water PondlNetting Issues
Airport pond maintenance and improvements began this week on ponds 1& 2. The rehabilitation project
is scheduled to go out for bid by July with construction starting in late August or September with completion
scheduled to end in October.
Standing Water on the west side
Mr. Shipman stated that standing water on the west side is still present and that no presumptions of why
can be identified. When we receive the Storm Water Survey from Reid 1Vliddleton maybe then.we can evaluate
a solution.
MAI Appraisal on select airport property
Mr. Garcia has received a corrected.electronic copy of the MAI Appraisal from Al1en, Brackett &
Shedd, and will forward a copy to Ms. Coleman. The MAI appraisal was required by City leases. The
information will be brought to the Municipal Services and Airport Advisory Board at their next scheduled
meeting.
New Business:
Line Controlled Aircraft
Mr. Shipman sta.ted that SkyRaiders (a line controlled model aircraft club) has 3 more events this
summer at the Auburn Airport. Shipman spoke last week with Pete Ferguson, the president of SkyRa.iders NW
chapter, regarding the possibility of advertising in local newsletters or papers through Auburn Tourism.
Shipman was able to obtain a flyer and logo for this advertising for their upcoming events. Their next practice event is scheduled on June 26t" . A national two day competition is scheduled for August 21 St and 22°a Mr
Ferguson stated to Shipman that he would be. interested in advertising these events through Auburn Tourism:
Garcia will conta.ct Debbie Luce, Auburn Tourism regarding this and will forwazd the flyer and logo.
