An introduction and welcome was given to Mr. Don Peters the new Advisory Board Member.
A motion was made and seconded to accept the Airport Advisory Board Minutes of the December 20, 2011 meeting.
Note: The January 18 meeting was canceled because of extremely bad snow weather.
Old Business:
Wash Rack Progress: Mr. Garcia handed out a gant chart on costs and time for converting a Hanger Row 2 for a
wash rack area. Water resistant, cost effective wall covering options to use over existing dry wall were discussed.
SWWPP: Ms. Coleman gave an estimated cost for the storm water update by Reid Middleton; the estimate will
be submitted to Council for approval. Ms. Coleman also suggested that storm water sampling points be changed since
it appears copper is co- mingled from an auto shop in the ditch at 30th street near one of the sampling points.
New Business:
Elect Chairman and Vice -Chair for 2012: Mark Babcock (Chair) and Bob Jones (Vice- Chair) were unanimously
elected.
Staff Change at AMG: Mr. Garcia informed the committee that Mr. Shipman is no longer with the company and that
he and other staff will continue to keep the airport operating smoothly.
Survey of West Side of Airport: A survey was handed out by Ms. Coleman which showed the areas of possible
easement on the west side for business property development; a brief discussion about development was done.
West Side Tree Removal: The heights of trees on the west side of the airport have become an obstacle for
pilots according to the FAA. Mr. Garcia has obtained a bid from Summit Tree Company to chop down the trees and
uproot the stumps, leaving both to decay in the wetland. Ms. Coleman suggested contacting Chris Andersen, City of
Auburn Environmental Protection Manager concerning this project.
Discussion:
There was a brief discussion about hosting an event at the Auburn Airport. A suggestion was made to contact the City
of Auburn Parks & Recreation event coordinator for ideas. Councilmember Peloza advised the Board that he had
spoken to Mayor Lewis about a summer airport event. Further review is needed.
A review and update of the matrix was completed.
Meeting adjourned at 9:10 A.M.
Respectfully submitted,
Airport Management Group, LLC
On behalf of the City of Auburn
The next AAB meeting is March 21, 2012
