ORDINANCE NO. 799.
AN ORDINANCE: Relating to volunteer firemen's relief and com-
pensation fund; providing that the City of Auburn conform ;rlth
the provisions of Chapter 121 of the Laws of \:ashington of the
year 1935; limiti~ the membership of the vOlunte.er fire depart-
ment to twenty (20) firemen for eaoh one thousand (1 000) popu-
lation; and oreating a board of trustees to be known'as I!The
Auburn Board of Trustees of the Volunteer Firemen's Relief and
Compensation fundI!.
VlliEREAS, there is now maintained and for several years
oonsecutively last past has been maintained in the City of Au-
burn an efficient, regularly organized volunteer fire depart-
ment as defined by Chapter 121 of the Laws of Washington of
the year 1935; and
WHEREAS, the City of Auburn and the members of said fire de-
partment desire to partioipate in the benefits presoribed in said
Chapter 121;
NOW, THEREFORE,
TBE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Seotion 1. That the City of Auburn now elects to oonform
vdth all of the provisions of an aot of the legislature of the
State of Washington approved by the governor ~aroh 20, 1935 entit-
led "AN ACT relating to and oreating a fund in the state Treasury
to be known as the Volunteer Firemen's Relief and Compensation
Fund, designating the duties of Gertain offioials; providing for
relief and oompensation for volunteer firemen; creating a Board
of Trustees in each municipality for the maintenanoe and distri-
bution of said fund; empovrering municipalities to limit the mem-
bership of said volunteer fire departments, and requiring medioal
and physical examinations for members of said fire departmentsl!,
in order that said city and the members of the regularly organized
volunteer fire department maintained therein may particlpate in
the benefits presoribed in said aot.
Seotion 2. That the membership of the regularly organized
volunteer fire department of the c~ty of Auburn be and the same
is hereby limited to twenty (20) firemen for each one thousand
(1,000) population of said city.
Section 3. That, pursuant to the provisions of the aot re-
ferred to in Section 1 of this ordinance, there is hereby created
and established a board of trustees of the volunteer firemen's
relief and compensation fund to be knovm as I!The Auburn Board of
Trustees of the Volunteer Firemen's Relief and Compensation fundI!;
that suoh board shall consist of the mayor, city olerk and one
oounoilman of the City of Auburn, the Chief of the organized vol-
unteer fire department of the City of Auburn, and one member of
said fire department to be elected annually by the members of said
fire department for a term of one y~a~; t~at t~e.members of ~aid
volunteer fire department have oert~f~ed ~n wr~t~ng to the c~ty of
Auburn that they have eleoted Hugh M. Leslie, a member of said fire

department, as a member of said board of trustees; that the mem-
bers of the first said board of trustees are as follows: L.9.
Gove, Mayor of the City of Auburn; J.M.Ryan, City Clerk of t~e
City of Auburn; {2{} h"'ffiPNSJi:. Councilman of the City of
Auburn; Frank Luaw~g, Her or :ens J\.u6urn Volunteer Fire Depart-
ment and Hugh M. Leslie, eleoted member of said department; and that
the Board of Trustees hereby oreated shall have all the powers and
shall perform all the duties oonferred and imposed upon it by
the provisions of said aot.
