Parks and Recreation Board Meeting
Minutes
Tuesday, April 4, 2017
5:30 p.m.
Auburn Community & Event Center
I. Call to Order
Present were chair Michael Hassen, members Greg Dobbs, Bob Kickner, Lisa Russell. Department staff
present were Parks Director Daryl Faber, Parks Planning & Development Manager Jamie Kelly, and Parks
Secretary Julie Mehl. Also present was Brandon Jones, Auburn Riverside High School student.
II. Minutes
The March minutes were moved for approval by Bob Kickner, Greg Dobbs seconds.
III. Committee Member Input
Richard Artura has resigned from the board.
Greg Dobbs asks about the status of turf installation at Brannan. Should be complete by late summer/
early fall.
IV. Correspondence/Public Input
V. Old Business
Jamie Kelly reports on the Game Farm Park drainage issue; are waiting for the survey crew, will then
come up with solution.
VI. New Business
Blue Lights at Les Gove Park— Daryl Faber reports two Blue Light phone/pole/cameras will be installed;
one near the restrooms and the other behind the Senior Center. The poles will also be wi-fi hotspots.
Auburn Alley—A Livable Cities Project is underway in the alley between the Auburn Ave Theater and the
Arts &Culture Center. Students will design a street scape plan &activate for use similar to Portland or
Seattle. May include arch with lights and will block traffic with bollards.
VII. Department Report (Faber& Kelly)
Clean Sweep projects sites include Big Daddy's property, Auburn Environmental Park, Fenster,
Auburndale, Cedar Lanes, West Auburn Lake, Mill Pond, Les Gove tree planting, Community Gardens,
Auburn Justice Center, Roegner, White River Trail.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:10 pm.
