HomeMy WebLinkAbout5695 RESOLUTION NO. 5695 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, ACCEPTING THE RESIGNATION OF COUNCILMEMBER CHRIS STEARNS WHEREAS, Washington's 47th Legislative District has elected Chris Stearns to the Washington House of Representatives; and WHEREAS, Councilmember Stearns has offered his resignation from his position as Councilmember serving the City of Auburn; and WHEREAS, the City of Auburn accepts Councilmember Stearns' resignation and expresses its appreciation for his years of service and contributions to the City. Councilmember Stearns was the first Native American elected to the Auburn City Council and he acted as the Co-Chair of the WRIA-9 Watershed Ecosystem Forum, the King County Affordable Housing Committee, the King County Flood Control District's Advisory Committee, the National League of Cities' Indigenous Municipal Officials, the King County Mental Illness and Drug Dependency Oversight Committee, and the Washington State Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and People Task Force, in addition to other representation on behalf of the City of Auburn. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, RESOLVES as follows: Section 1. The City of Auburn accepts the resignation of Councilmember Chris Sterns effective December 31, 2022. Section 2. The Mayor is authorized to implement those administrative procedures necessary to carry out the directives of this legislation. Resolution No. 5695 December 7, 2022 Page 1 of 2 Rev.2019 Section 3.
