CALL TO ORDER Mayor Nancy Backus called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. at the Muckleshoot Convention Center located at 2402 Auburn Way South, Auburn. Councilmembers present: Deputy Mayor James Jeyaraj, Bob Baggett, Larry Brown, Robyn Mulenga, Chris Steams and Yolanda Trout-Manuel. Councilmember Kate Baldwin was excused. A. PUBLIC PARTICIPATION 1. Public Participation The meeting was held in person and virtually. I I. NEW BUSINESS A. State of the City Mayor Backus to provide the State of the City Address Mayor Backus provided the State of the City Address. She shared what she believes are the core pillars of City leadership; Compassion, Accountability, and Community. She reviewed the progress and plans that have been developed over the past year including,the DEI initiative called Inclusive Auburn,work at the Arts and Culture Center, The REC Teen Center, public art, special events, homelessness, homeless encampments, public outreach, the Auburn Resource Center, the Auburn Food Bank, Community Court, the Community Response Team,the Salvation Army Street Level Team,Auburn Police Department,the Police Advisory Committee, the Housing Repair Program,Aubum's drinking water systems, the storm water systems, Local Street Program, and the Pavement Condition Index, street preservation, the Auburn Municipal Airport, passport services, graffiti abatement, and crime prevention through Environmental Design Plans.
