CP1308, CONTRACT NO. 14-04 BNSF UTILITY CROSSINGS The Office of the City Clerk will receive sealed bids at the Auburn City Hall, 25 West Main Street, Auburn, Washington until 11:00 AM PDT on September 30, 2014, and will then and there be opened and publicly read aloud at the City Hall. All bids shall be filed with the City Clerk on or before the time set for bid opening. The major items of work include replacement of various City utilities at their crossings of Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Railroad Rights-of-Way. The following utility crossings will be constructed in auger bored casings in the BNSF rights-of-way: (1) West Main Street crossing of BNSF Seattle Subdivision: 8-inch water main; (2) 3rd Street NW crossing of BNSF Seattle Subdivision: 24-inch sanitary sewer and 24-inch storm drain; (3) 37th Street NW crossing of BNSF Seattle Subdivision: 12-inch water main; and (4) Crossing of BNSF Stampede Subdivision approximately 580 feet east from the Auburn-Black Diamond Road SE crossing: 6-inch water main. The project will also include slipline rehabilitation of a 48-inch concrete storm drain crossing near the 37th Street NW crossing of BNSF Seattle Subdivision, as well as roadway intersection reconstruction and traffic signal modifications at the intersection of 37th Street NW and B Street NW. Work will include but not be limited to traffic control; erosion and sediment control; excavation of boring pits; dewatering; installation of auger bored casings; bypass pumping; installation of gravity and pressure utilities and appurtenances; connection to existing utilities; slipline utility rehabilitation; surface and roadway restoration; roadway excavation; pavement and base course replacement; curb, gutter, sidewalk, and ADA-ramp construction; traffic signal equipment installation; and pavement markings. The proposed bid range for the project is from $1,400,000 to $1,700,000. The entire project, including cleanup, shall be physically completed within 100 working days. This project is being funded entirely with City of Auburn monies. All bid proposals shall be accompanied by a bid deposit in cash, certified check, cashier’s check or proposal bond (surety bond) in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the amount of such bid proposal. Should the successful bidder fail to enter into such Contract and furnish satisfactory Contract Bond within the time stated in the Bid Documents, the bid deposit shall be forfeited to the City of Auburn. Disadvantaged, Minority, and Women’s Business Enterprises are encouraged to respond.
