HomeMy WebLinkAbout1387 ORDINANCE No....l3.£.7 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, RELATING TO AND PROVIDING FOR THE ANNEXATION OF A CONTIGUOUS AREA OF LAND LYING ADJACENT TO THE WESTERLY MARGINAL LINE OF THE EXISTING CITY LIMIT~ OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, TO THE CITY OF AUBURN, WIIICII LAND IS DESCRIBED IN A PETITION DULY FILED WITH THE CLERK OF THE CITY OF AUBURN. WHEREAS, a petition for annexation of the property her~dnafter des- cribed was duly filed with the City of Auburn, by filing with the City Clerk on the 5th day of April, 1960, which petition was signed by the owners of more than 75% in value of all the property lying within the limits of the proposed area to be annexed, according to the assessed valuation for general taxation of the property for which an annexation is petitioned, said petition setting forth the legal descriptio'n of the property to be annexed and being accompanied by a plat outlining the boundaries of said petition sought to be annexed, and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Auburn fixed a. date for a public hearing to be held at 8:00 P.M. in the City lIall in the City of Auburn on May 3, 1960, setting forth notice of said public hearing for annexation to be published in the official city newspaper of the City of Auburn in one issue of said newspaper, and providing for the posting in three public places within the area proposed for annexation a copy of said notice of public hearing, and, WHEREAS, notice of public hearing of said petition of annexation to the City of Auburn ha~ been duly published in the official city newspaper of the City of Auburn in one regular issue of said newspaper, and the said notice of public hearing having been posted in three (3) public places within the area proposed for annexation by the City Clerk of the City of Auburn, and said public hearing bei ng held at 8: 00 P.M. in the City Hall of the City of Auburn on May 3, 1960, and the City Council of the City of Auburn having determined that said public hearing is in the best irt. erest and welfare of the City of Auburn to annex the contiguous ar,ea proposed for annexation hereinafter described, and, WHERE, the City Council did accept and approve the petition above described on the 19th day of April, 1960, and did at that time fix a date for public hearing to be held on May 3, 1960. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, AS FOLLOWS: P age One --........----....-.....-.-- Section 1. That the petition for annexation of the following des- cribed property has been duly and properly filed with the City Clerk of the City of Auburn, and complies with all requirements of law. Section 2. That by regular motion adopted and passed by the City Council on the 19th day of April, 1960, it was ordered that a public hearing be held on said petition for annexation at 8: 00 P .M.. in the City Hall of the City of Auburn May 3, 1960, and providing for the proper notice to be published and posted according to law. Section 1. That proper notice of public hearing was duly published in the official city newspaper of the City of Auburn on the 21st day of April and the 28th day of April, 1960, and was duly pasted in three (3) public places within the area proposed for annexation hereinafter described, and that a public hearing was held at 8:00 P.M. In the City Hall of the City of Auburn on the 3rd day of May, 1960. Section 4. That the property lying contiguous to the ,~sterly marginal line of the existing city limits of the City of Auburn hereinafter des- cribed be and the same is hereby annexed to the City of Auburn, said property being more particularly described as: Beginning at a point on the City of Auburn Limits, said point being 93.6 feet west of the northeast corner of the northwest, quarter of Section 13, Township 21 North, Range 4 E. W.M.; thence ,~st along the north line of Section 13, Township 21 North, Range 4 E,.W.M., and the north line of Section 14, Township 21 North, Range 4 E.W.M. to the west line of the east half of Section 14, Township 21 North, Range 4 E.W.M; thence south along the west line of the east half of Section 14, Township 21 North, Range 4 E.W.M. to the north lin~' of Section 23, To,mship 21 North, Range 4 E. W.M.; thence west along the north line of aforesaid Section 23 to the west line of the east one-half of the east one-half of the west one-half of Section 23, Township 21 North, Range 4 E.W.M.; thence south along the west line of the east one-half of the east one-half of the west one-half of aforesaid Section 23, to the south line of the north one-half of Section 23, Township 21 North, Range 4 E. W. M., thence east along the south line of the north one-half of Section 23 and the south line of the north one-half of Section 24, Township 21 North, Range 4 E. W.M. to the westerly marginal line of the Puget Sound Power and Light Company right-of-way (City of Auburn limits); thence north along the Puget Sound Power and I.ight Company right-of-way to the point of beginning, situate in County of King, State of Washington; said above described property being contiguous, approximate and adjacent to the present corporate limits of the City of Auburn. Section ç. That the effective date of the annexation (Of the above described property shall be as of the date of passage of this ordinance providing for such annexation. P age Two Section 6. This ordinance shàl take effect five (5) days from and after its Passage, approval and publication as provided by law.
