<br /> <br />J <br /> <br />,. <br /> <br />., <br /> <br />"i,..,. .-;"':'!' <br /> <br />~ ..., <br /> <br />o R DIN A N C E NO. 684 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE: Amending Section 2 of Ordinance No. 661 of <br />the Ordinances of the City of Auburn, entitled "An Ordinance to <br />provide revenue, to tax and lioense shows, exhibitions and other <br />publio amusements and lawful games carried on in the City of Aub- <br />urn and within one mile of the oorporate limits thereof, fixing <br />the amount of suoh tax or 1ioense, making provision for the col- <br />lection thereof, providing penalties for oarrying on suoh shows, <br />exhibitions and other nub1ic amusements and lawful games without <br />first paying ~lch tax and obtaining suoh license, providing for <br />the prosecution of persons violating the provisions of this Ord- <br />inanoe, and repealing Seotion 2 of Ordinance No. 199 of the Ord- <br />inances of the City of Auburn", passed and approved August 21, 1928. <br /> <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. That Seotion 2 of Ordinance No. 661 of the <br />Ordinanoes of the City of Auburn, entitled "An Ordinance to provide <br />revenue, to tax and 1ioense shows, exhibitions and other public <br />amusements and lawful games oarried on in the City of Auburn and <br />within one mile of the corporate limits thereof, fixing the amount <br />of suoh tax or license, making provision for the oollection thereof, <br />providing penalties for oarrying on suoh shows, exhibitions and other <br />public amusements and lawful games without first paying such tax and <br />obtaining suoh lioense, providing for the prosecution of persons vio- <br />lating the provisions of this Ordinanoe, and repealing Seotion 2 of <br />Ordinanoe No. 199 of the Ordinanoes of the City of Auburn," passed <br />and approved on August 21, 1928, be and the same hereby is amended so <br />that, as amended, the same shall read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 2. That all shows, oarnivals, theatres, operas, con- <br />certs, exhibitions and other public amusements and lawful games shall <br />be taxed and licensed at the following rates, viz: <br />Every oircus (exolusive of side show), $25.00 per day; <br />Every side show connected with a cirous, $5.00 per day; <br />Every oarnival (exolusive of side shows and lawful <br />games), $25.00per day; <br />Every side show or lawful game oonnected with a carnival <br />and every public amusement connected with a carnival, in <br />excess of one side whow or lawful game or public amuse- <br />ment, $5.00 per day; <br />Every theatre, concert, show, exhibition or other public <br />amusement, except as hereinafter ,provided, $5.00 per day, <br />$20.00 per month or $50.00 for every three months, PRO- <br />VIDED, however, that'ff such shows, carnivals, theatres, <br />operas, concerts, exhibitions and other public amusements, <br />shall be held, conducted or carried on wi thin the corpor- <br />ate limits of the City of Auburn, for the benefit of any <br />qhuroh, or any fraternal organization within the City of <br />Auburn, or for any purely public benefit, or for the ben- <br />efit of any school, it shall not be necessary to procure <br />any license therefor, and that such Show, carnival, thea- <br />tre, opera, concert, exhibition or other public amusement <br />shall not be subjected to the tex levied under the provi- <br />sions of this Ordinance; <br />Every motion picture show, and every motion pioture <br /> <br />
