HomeMy WebLinkAbout684 J ,. ., "i,..,. .-;"':'!' ~ ..., o R DIN A N C E NO. 684 AN ORDINANCE: Amending Section 2 of Ordinance No. 661 of the Ordinances of the City of Auburn, entitled "An Ordinance to provide revenue, to tax and lioense shows, exhibitions and other publio amusements and lawful games carried on in the City of Aub- urn and within one mile of the oorporate limits thereof, fixing the amount of suoh tax or 1ioense, making provision for the col- lection thereof, providing penalties for oarrying on suoh shows, exhibitions and other nub1ic amusements and lawful games without first paying ~lch tax and obtaining suoh license, providing for the prosecution of persons violating the provisions of this Ord- inanoe, and repealing Seotion 2 of Ordinance No. 199 of the Ord- inances of the City of Auburn", passed and approved August 21, 1928. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That Seotion 2 of Ordinance No. 661 of the Ordinanoes of the City of Auburn, entitled "An Ordinance to provide revenue, to tax and 1ioense shows, exhibitions and other public amusements and lawful games oarried on in the City of Auburn and within one mile of the corporate limits thereof, fixing the amount of suoh tax or license, making provision for the oollection thereof, providing penalties for oarrying on suoh shows, exhibitions and other public amusements and lawful games without first paying such tax and obtaining suoh lioense, providing for the prosecution of persons vio- lating the provisions of this Ordinanoe, and repealing Seotion 2 of Ordinanoe No. 199 of the Ordinanoes of the City of Auburn," passed and approved on August 21, 1928, be and the same hereby is amended so that, as amended, the same shall read as follows: Section 2. That all shows, oarnivals, theatres, operas, con- certs, exhibitions and other public amusements and lawful games shall be taxed and licensed at the following rates, viz: Every oircus (exolusive of side show), $25.00 per day; Every side show connected with a cirous, $5.00 per day; Every oarnival (exolusive of side shows and lawful games), $25.00per day; Every side show or lawful game oonnected with a carnival and every public amusement connected with a carnival, in excess of one side whow or lawful game or public amuse- ment, $5.00 per day; Every theatre, concert, show, exhibition or other public amusement, except as hereinafter ,provided, $5.00 per day, $20.00 per month or $50.00 for every three months, PRO- VIDED, however, that'ff such shows, carnivals, theatres, operas, concerts, exhibitions and other public amusements, shall be held, conducted or carried on wi thin the corpor- ate limits of the City of Auburn, for the benefit of any qhuroh, or any fraternal organization within the City of Auburn, or for any purely public benefit, or for the ben- efit of any school, it shall not be necessary to procure any license therefor, and that such Show, carnival, thea- tre, opera, concert, exhibition or other public amusement shall not be subjected to the tex levied under the provi- sions of this Ordinance; Every motion picture show, and every motion pioture J ..
