ORDINANCE NO. 2271
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, RELATING TO AND PROVIDING FOR THE ANNEX-
ATION TO THE CITY OF AUBURN OF A CONTIGUOUS AREA OF lAND ~YING ADJACENT TO THE
SOUTHERLY MARGINAL LINE OF THE EXISTING CITY liMITS OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WHICH lAND
IS DESCRIBED IN A PETITION DULY FilED WITH THE CITY COUNCil OF THE CITY OF AUBURN.
WHEREAS, the City Counci I of the City of Auburn was notified by owners of property
having more than ten percent in value of the assessed valuation within the proposed area
to be annexed, that they desired to circulate a petition to commence annexation proceed-
ings to the City of Auburn; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Auburn subsequently authorized the circu-
lation of the petition within the proposed area to be annexed; and,
WHEREAS, the petition for annexation of the property hereinafter described was duly
fi led with the City Counci I of the City of Auburn on the 17th day of June, 1968, which
petition was signed by the owners of more than 75% in value of all of the property
lying within the limits of the proposed area to be annexed according to the assessed val-
uation for general taxation of the property for which an annexation is petitioned, said
petition setting forth the legal description of the property to be annexed and being ac-
companied by a plat outlining the boundaries of said area sought to be annexed; and,
WHEREAS, the City Counci I of the City of Auburn fixed a date for public hearing to
be held at 8:00 p.m. in the City Hall of the City of Auburn on July I, 1968, setting
forth notice of said public hearing for annexation to be published in the official City
newspaper~ the City of Auburn in one issue of said newspaper, and providing for the
posting in three public places within the area proposed for annexation of copies of said
notice of public hearing; and,
WHEREAS, notice of publ ic hearing of said petition of annexation to the City of
Auburn has been duly published in the official newspaper of the City of Auburn in one
regular issue of said newspaper, and the said notice of public hearing having been posted
in three public places within the area proposed for annexation by the City Clerk of the
City of Auburn, and said public hearing being held at 8:00 p.m. in the City Hal I of the
City of Auburn on July I, 1968, and the City Counci I of the City of Auburn having de-
termined that said annexation is in the best interest and welfare of the City of Auburn,
did accept and approve the petition above described and directed the fi ling of a notice
of its intention to annex the hereinafter described property with the Boundary Review
Board as required by Section 9 of Chapter 189 of Laws of the State of Washington for
the year 1967; and,

WHEREAS, said notice of intention to annex was thereafter fi led with the Boundary
Review Boar4 on July 17, 1968 and more than sixty (60) days has elapsed without the
Board invoking ~urisdiction and therefore, pursuant to Section 10 of Chapter 189 of the
laws of the State of Washington for the year 1967, the proposed annexation by the City
of Auburn shal I be deemed approved by the Boundary Review Board;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON,
AS FOllOWS:
~ection 11 That the petition for annexation of the fol lowing described property
has been duly and properly fi led with the City Counci I of the City of Auburn, and complies
with al I requirements of law.
Section 2. That by regular motion adopted and passed by the City Councl I on the
17th day of June, 1968, it was ordered ~~at a public hearing be held on said petition
for annexation at 8:00 p.m. in the City Hall of the City of Auburn on July I, 1968,
providing for the proper notice to be publ ished and posted according to law.
Section 3. That proper notice of public hearing was duly published in the official
newspaper of the City of Auburn on the 26th day of June, 1968, and was duly posted in
three public places within the area proposed for annexation hereinafter described, and
that a public hearing was held at 8:00 p.m. in the City Hall of the City of Auburn on the
1st day of July, 1968.
Section 4. That at the conclusion of the public hearing in the City Hall of the City
of Auburn on the 1st day of July, 1968, the City Counci I did approve the petition for
annexation and directed the fi ling of a notice of its intention to annex the hereinafter
described property with the Boundary Review Board as required by Section 9 of Chapter 189
Laws of the State of Washington for the year 1967.
Section 5. That notice of intention to annex was fi led with the Boundary Review
Board on July 17, 1968 and more than sixty (60) days has elapsed without the Board
invoking jurisdiction and therefore, pursuant to Section 10 of Chapter 189 of the laws
of the State of Washington for the year 1967, the proposed annexation by the City of
Auburn shal I be deemed approved by the Boundary Review Board.
Section 6. That the property lying contiguous to the Southerly marginal I ine of
the existing city limits of the City of Auburn hereinafter described be and the same is
hereby annexed to the City of Auburn, said property being more particularly described as:

Section 7. That the effective date of the annexation of the above described property
to the City of Auburn shall be the effective date of the passage of this Ordinance
providing for such annexation.
Section 8. That in accordance with the terms of the petition for annexation of the
above described property, the area to be annexed ahal I assume the indebtedness of the
City of Auburn existing at the effective date of the passage of this Ordinance.

passage, approval and publication as provided by law.
