HomeMy WebLinkAbout4567 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 1 2 3 ORDZHANCB HO. 4 5 6 7 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON AMENDING SECTION 13.16.020 ENTITLED "DEFINITIONS" AND SEC'I'ION 13.16.100 ENTITLED "FIRE FLOW REQUIREMENTS" CONTAINED IN AUBURN CITY CODE CHAPTER 13.16 ENTITLED "AUBURN FIRE HYDRANT/ACCESS ORDINANCE" BY AMENDING AND DELETING CERTAIN LANGUAGE IN ORDER TO CONFORM TO CERTAIN REQUIREMENTS IN AUBURN CITY CODE CHAPTER 15.36 AND REPEALING SECTIONS 13.16.040, 1:3 .16.110 AND 13.16.120 ENTITLED RESPECTIVELY "PUBLIC BUILDINGS--COMPLIANCE REQUIRED," "ISSUANCE OF BUILDING PERMITS" AND "FIRE FIGHTING ACCESS REQUIREMENTS" AS REQUIREMENTS CONTAINED IN THE REPEALED SECTIONS ARE INCLUDED IN AUBURN CITY CODE CHAPTEIU5.36. 4 5 6 7 8 9 WHEREAS, the City of Auburn desires to amend Auburn City Code Sections 13.16.020 and 13.16.100 entitled respectively 10 11 "Definitions" and "Fire flow requirements" contained in 12 Auburn City Code Chapter 13.16 entitled "Auburn Fire 13 Hydrant/Access ordinan?e" by amending and dele,ting certain language in order to co~rm to certain requirements in Auburn \ 14 15 City Code Section 15.36; and 16 17 WHEREAS, the City of Auburn desires to repeal sections 13.16.040, 13.16.110 and 13.16.120 entitled respectively 18 "Public buildings--Compliance required," "Issuanc,e of building permits" and "Firefighting access requirements" contained in Auburn City Code Chapter 13.16 entitled '''Auburn Fire Hyrdrant/ Access Ordinance" as the requirements contained in the section to be repealed are included in Auburn City Code section 15.36. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CI'I'Y OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: \. ------------------------------- Ordinance No. 4567 May 14, 1992 Page 1 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 1 2 section 1. PURPOSB. The purpose of this ordinance is to amend Auburn city Code Sections 13.16.020 and 13.16.100 3 4 entitled flow respectively "Definitions" "Fire and 5 6 requirements" contained in Auburn City Code Chapter 13.16 entitled "Auburn Fire Hydrant/Access Ordinance" by amending and deleting certain lanquage in order to conform to certain 7 8 9 requirements in Auburn City Code Section 15.36. Auburn City Code sections 13.16.040, 13.16.110 and 13.16.120 entitled 10 respectively "Public building--Compliance required," "Issuance 11 of building permits" and "Firefighting access requirements" shall be repealed as requirements contained in the repealed sections are set forth in Auburn city Code Section 15.36. 12 13 14 15 16 Seotion 2. AMEHDMEHTS TO SECTZOH 13 . 16.020. Section 13.16.020 of the Auburn City Code shall be amended as set forth in Exhibit "A" attached hereto and incorporated herein. 17 section 3. REPEAL OF SECTIOH 13.16.040. Auburn City REPEAL OF SECTIOH 13.16.110 . 3 Code Section 13.16.110 entitled "Issuance of Building Permits" 4 5 6 contained Fire in Chapter entitled 13.16 ".!\.uburn Hydrant/Access Ordinance" is herein repealed in its entirety effective upon the effective date of this ordinance. 7 Section 6. Auburn City RBPEAL OF SECTIOIJ 13 . 16 . 12 0 . 8 Code section access entitled "Firefighting 13.16.120 9 requirements" contained in Chapter 13.16 entitled "Auburn Fire 10 Hydrant/Access Ordinance" is herein repealed in its entirety effective upon the effective date of this ordinance. 11 12 seotion 7 . Should ëLnY section, SEVERABILITY. 13 subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause or phrase of this 14 ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason, such decision shall not affect the validity of the 15 16 remaining portions of this ordinance. When not inconsistent with the context, words used in the 9 present tense include the future; words in the plural number include the signular number; and words in the singular number 10 11 include the plural number. The word "shall" is always 12 mandatory. 13 14 A. "A.P.W.A." means the American Public Works Association. B. "A.W.W.A." means the American Water Works Association. 15 c. "Fire chief" means the city fire chief or ¡!tis ð""e:il'l~ee 16 the Fire marshal. 17 D. "Fire department" means the city fire department. "Fire flow" means the measure of the susta.ined flow of 18 E. 19 available water for firefighting of a specific building or within a specific area at twenty pounds per square inch residual pressure, and shall be corr'ected to the lowest gallonage available based on peak-pE!riod demands and seasonal demands. F. "Private hydrant" means a fire hydrant situated and maintained to provide water for firefigh1:ing purposes with restrictions as to use. The location may be such that it is not readily accessible for immE!diate use by the fire authority for other than certain private property. H. "Public hydrant" means a fire hydrant situated and maintained to provide water for firefigh1:ing purposes without restriction as to use for that purpose. The location is such that it is accessible for immediate use of the fire authority at all times. 1. "U.B.C." means the Uniform Building code, including amendments, as adopted by the city. J. "U.L." means the Underwriters' Laboratories, Inc. K.
