<br />ORDINANCE NO.5 3 3 5 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCil OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, <br />WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A GRANT FROM <br />U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE OFFICE OF COMMUNITY ORIENTED <br />POLICING SERVICES FOR GRANT NUMBER 96UMWX0728 SUPPLEMENT <br />NO.1 TO HIRE lAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Auburn must adopt and <br /> <br />approve all appropriations by Ordinance pursuant to Chapter 35A.33 RCW; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the funding under this project is for the payment of salaries <br /> <br />and approved fringe benefits for three years for sworn entry level career law <br /> <br />enforcement officers, lateral transfers, or rehired officers; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the COPS Universal Hiring grant funds must be used to hire <br /> <br />one or more new additional career law enforcement officers, beyond the <br /> <br />number of officers that would be hired or employed by the grantee in the <br /> <br />absence of the grant; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 4890 was passed on July 15, 1996, which <br /> <br />authorized the acceptance of the original grant; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, additional grant funding is available to the City. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCil OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, <br /> <br />WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOllOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Purpose. Pursuant to Chapter 35A.33 RCW, the City <br /> <br />Council hereby accepts the appropriation of a grant funds in the amount of <br /> <br />Ordinance No. 5335 <br />January 3, 1999 <br />Page No. 1 <br />
