ORDINANCE NO. 5 3 4 6 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, ANNEXING TO THE CITY A 453 ACRE PARCEL OF LAND LOCATED IN KING COUNTY AND ADJACENT TO THE EAST CITY OF AUBURN CITY LIMITS. WHEREAS, in accordance with Chapter 35A.14 RCW, the owners of more than 60% percent of value according to the assessed valuation for general taxation of certain lands in King County, Washington, and more particularly described in Section 1 of this Ordinance, filed their petition with the ~ City Council of the City of Auburn, Washington, petitioning to have annexed to ~ the City of Auburn the said described land; and ~ WHEREAS, in accordance with Chapter 35A.14 RCW various c:, proceedings were held; and c-~ WHEREAS, the King County Assessor's Office on September 9, 1999 certified that aforesaid petition contained the signatures of those property owners having an assessed valuation of more than sixty (60) percent of the assessed valuation of the annexation area; and WHEREAS, the notice of intention to annex was filed with the King County Boundary Review Board; and Ordinance No. 5346 February 7, 2000 Page 1 WHEREAS, the 45 day review period before King County Boundary Review Board expired effective January 28, 2000, and jurisdiction was not invoked; and WHEREAS, the King County Boundary Review Board has approved the annexation; and WHEREAS, it appears to the City of Auburn, that said annexation meets the requirements specified by law; the procedure for the filing with the City of Auburn by the requisite number of property owners of their notice of intention to commence annexation proceedings, to and including the consideration of thet ~' =~...-. passage of this ordinance also meets the requirements, specified by law; and the lands proposed to be annexed are contiguous to the City of Auburn and have not heretofore been incorporated in as a City or Town; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That there shall be annexed to the City of Auburn, Washington, the property situated in the County of King, State of Washington, legally described as follows: THAT PORTION OF THE NORTHEAST QUARTER AND THE SOUTHEAST QUARTER AND THE SOUTHWEST QUARTER OF 'SECTION 8, TOWNSHIP 21 NORTH, RANGE 5 EAST, W. That the property hereby annexed shall be assessed and taxed at the same rate and on the same basis as other property within the Cib/ of Auburn is assessed and taxed to pay for any outstanding general indebtedness of the City to which the area was annexed. Section 3. That the annexation of the property will become effective on 12:01 AM on February 29, 2000 and the property shall become part of the City of Auburn, subject to all of the laws and ordinances of the City then otherwise provided by law. Section 4, Within ten (10) days after the effective date of the annexation referred to in this ordinance, the City Clerk of the City of Auburn shall send to the Office of the Clerk of the County Council one (1) certified copy of this Ordinance together with a copy of a letter from the Executive Secretary. . of the King County Boundary Review Board, which letter contains a copy of the decision of the Boundary Review Board relating to this annexation. Section 5. The City Clerk of the City of Auburn shall record a certified copy of this Ordinance with the King County Auditor's Office. Ordinance No. 5346 February 7, 2000 Page 5 Section 6. The Mayor is hereby authorized to implement. such administrative procedures as may be necessary to carry out the directions of this legislation. Section 7. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force five days from and after its passage, approval and publication as provided by law.
