HomeMy WebLinkAbout5618 ORDINANCE NO. 5618 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, AMENDING AUBURN CITY CODE 13.06.360 PERTAINING TO AUBURN WATER RATES. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Purpose. The purpose of this amendment is to incorporate changes in the water rates for the single family residential and wholesale customer classes. The single family residential rates are being amended to promote water conservation by establishing an inclining block rate for the quantity of water used. The wholesale rates are being amended to more closely conform with the Cost of Service for historical usage patterns. Section 2. Auburn City Code Chapter 13.06, entitled "WATER UTILITY - GENERAL REGULATIONS," specifically Section 13.06.360 entitled "Rates - Generally" is hereby amended to adopt rate changes effective June 1, 2002, as follows: 13.06.360 Rates - Generally Effective January 1, 2000, the monthly rates for water supplied by meter shall be as follows: ---------------------- Ordinance No. 5618 3/26/02 Page 1 Customer Class Base Charge Quantity Charge per 100 cubic feet $ .87 $ .92 $1.04 $ .94 $ .99 $1.35 $1.30 $ .76 $ 6.82 $14.92 $15.05 $15.03 $14.96 $15.05 $ 6.25 Single-family residential Multifamily residential Commercial Ma n ufactu ri ng/i nd u stria I Schools City accounts Irrigation only Wholesale Algona, Pacific, and Kent $31.72 WD #111 (and Covington) $340.33 Provided, however, that 37 percent shall be added to all rates for water service outside the city limits. City of Auburn utility taxes are included in the monthly rate for all customers except wholesale accounts. Wholesale rates exclude the 37 percent out of city service charge and state excise taxes. Section 3. Severabilitv. The provisions of this ordinance are declared to be separate and severable. The invalidity of any clause, sentence, paragraph, subdivision, section or portion of this ordinance, or the invalidity of the application thereof to any person or circumstance shall not affect the validity of the remainder of this ordinance, or the validity of its application to other persons or circumstances. Section 4. Implementation. The Mayor is hereby authorized to implement such administrative procedures as may be necessary to carry out the directions of this legislation. Section 5. Effective date.
