HomeMy WebLinkAbout4320 % • ' ' y ; •�- , .. r' `�I ,',. 1 ORDINANCE N0. 4 3 2 0 2 3' AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY .OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, AMENDING CHAPTER 2.63 OF THE AUBURN CITY CODE TO CHANGE VACATION LEAVE AFFECTING CERTAIN DESI6NATED EMPLOYEES, AND TO CHANGE VACATION 4 ACCUMULATION FOR DESIGNATED EMPLOYEES. 5 6 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: 7 Section 1. That Section 2.63.110 of the Auburn City Code, as last $ amended by Ordinance No. 3563, be amended as follows: 9 2.63.110 Vacation-Longevity leave time-6enera7 �ployees. 10 Effective January 1, 1981, full-time empioyees of the city, 11 excluding emploYees desi9nated in Section 2.63 and excludinq 12 employees covered by a collective barqaininy aqreement, 13 shall be entitled to longevity leave time according to the 14 following schedule(( ,—))_ ((( 15 �r�� 16 0-4 years' continuous secvice, 12 days per year; 5-9 years' continuous service, 15 days per year; 10-14 years' continuous service, 18 days per year; 17 15 years' continuous service, 20 days per year. 18 Section 2. The actual number of da s shall be 12 - computed based upon the date on which the Department 13 Head commenced employment with the Cit of Auburn 14 - 2. Durinq tfie second vear of employment with the C9tv 15 I a_nd each year thereafter, each Department Head will 16 accrue lonqevity leave on a monthl basis to a maxi- 17 mum of twentv (20) days per year. 18 Section 3. That Section 2.63.120. as last amended by Ordinance 4109, be 19 _ amended as follows: 2A 2.63:120 Vacations-Accumulation. 21 Vacations of employees shall not ordinari7y be accu- 22 mulative, except where the department head finds that 23 there are special circumstances justifying an extended 24 vacation. he/she may authorize the employee to accumulate 25 up to five days or two duty shifts for fire department 26 emptoyees of unused vacation leave each year for the pur- 27 pose of extending the employee's annual vacation period � in the year following, but in no event sha11 an employee 29 30 ------------------- 31 Ordinance No. 4320 Page Two 32 1/3/89 , • . �, � � . . . � :; , . , . ;-: 1 not subject to a collective bargaining agreement accumu- 2 late more than (( 3 4 5 . 6 �T)) that which would be earned in two years at the 7 employee's accrual rate. Anv vacation leave accumulated 8 in excess of this amount sha71 'be automatically removed 9 from the emplo.vee's vacation balance by the Finance 10 Department. ((�))Due to the demands of the office and 11 the responsibilities pertaining thereto, the mayor of. the 12 city of Auburn shall not be subject to the aforemen- 13 tioned provision and shall be authorized to accumulate 14 unlimited annual leave at his discretion. In the event 15 that a collective barqaininq agreement is silent on the 16 issue of vacation accumulation, then accumulation.shaTl 17 be limited to a maximum of one (i) vear annual vacation 18 leave plus fiVe (5) days additional unused and accrued 19 vacation leave carried over from a previous rear or two 20 duty shifts for fire department emplo.Yees working shift 21 work. 22 23 Section 4.
