A. Chair Norman introduced artist Vicki Scuri and Carol Valenta from
Sound Transit who gave a presentation on design concepts for the
integration of lighting fixtures into the Auburn RTA station. Ms.
Scud handed out a schematic drawing and had a three-
dimensional model of the proposed lightworks for the plaza of the
station. She gave an overview of the plans to date, and the
commissioners were asked for feedback on the individual designs
of the proposed lightworks. There followed a question and answer
period. The consensus was that the commissioners were confident
with the concept of integrating artist-designed lightworks as part of
the art component into the RTA station but needed to see further
drawings. The design concept for the lightworks was based on the
letter "A" for Auburn, which is an image that is already incorporated
into many existing street signs. The commissioners requested
further design options and to be able to see the lightworks in
context with the station design. Ms. Scud is to present this ~
information at the next commissioner's meeting.

Susan Sagawa reported on attendance for the recent Auburn

activities to promote the Sunday matinee performance (which fell
on Superbowl Sunday) and to attract a new young music student
audience. Marketing ideas were explored for the upcoming New
Pickle Circus in February, and Seattle Shakespeare Festival in
April.
