Presentation by Sound Transit on design of the transit plaza, Phase 2, Auburn Transit Station Jeff Wolfe, sOund Transit project manager, announced the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) will meet, Tuesday, Dec. 12, 3 to 5 p.m. at the Auburn transit station. The committee's role is to approve and comment on the architecture and design of the plaza and parking garage. Vicki Scuff presented her art proposal for the plaza: large-scale planters with seating. Scuri proposed incorporating materials such as terrazo and textured concrete. The landscape architects will work on the pavement design and present proposals to TAC. It was reported that an underground drainage vault, which runs the length of the plaza, may affect the configuration of the trees and plaza grid. Inga Kauffman said the plaza design will incorporate the patterning with colored brick tiles and orchard concepts as discussed at the last commission meeting. Further study is needed to determine how much paving and what types of surface options will fit within the budget. (more) The commission considered Scuri's proposal of planters with seating for a total art budget of $91,000. Sound Transit has already paid Scuri a $3,000 design fee for her proposal. Her proposal included a 35-percent fee for design and construction of the project. At 6:05 p.m., the commission convened in executive session to discuss the artist's design proposal. At 6:40 p.m. the commission concluded its executive session. Commissioner Steve LePenske moved not to approve the design concept of the planter boxes with seating designed by Vicki Scuff as proposed. Commissioner Don Gardner seconded the motion. MOTION APPROVED III. BRAVO! Update Susan Sagawa said The Tiller's Folly concert was a success, despite the fact that five of the eight dancers were unable to cross the Canadian-US border to perform. The show went on with three dancers and the band played great music. With fewer dancers-staff re- negotiated the performance fee, and the city issued an adjusted check. Tim Noah's Holiday Show, Dec. 16, is expected to sell out. IV. Other Business An exhibition of Steve LePenske's photographs titled "Seasonal Reflections" is on display in the City Hall Gallery.
