Public Art 2006 Project The arts commission will recommend the West Main Street non-motorized improvement project for the 2006 public art project. The site is located between the Interurban Trail and Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad tracks. Because of the relatively tight turn- around (project design is currently scheduled to be completed by March), Cultural Arts Manager Lori Patrick asked the public art committee to convene for a site visit on Oct. 19 at 12 pm. V. BRAVO! series update Full subscriptions have capped at only 39 this season, but the "Mix-n-Match" subscriptions are still coming in and have exceeded projections by almost double. Overall, total ticket sales are about 50% of revenue goals for the entire season. The Russian American Kids Circus (Sept. 18) was an excellent show and audiences really enjoyed it. The attendance for the public show was 434, a number lower than projected. The school show for 1,000 third-graders went very well and was enthusiastically received. Harlem Gospel Choir (Oct. 7) public show brought in 831 and exceeded revenue goal. The school show for that event was presented to over 1,000 4th graders. In addition, the choir conducted a workshop with Terminal Park's Tiger Tones Choir as part of the Art Commission's "Artisans in Schools" program. The Tiger Tones Choir joined the Harlem Gospel Choir on stage for one song during the public evening performance. Ticket sales for the upcoming Auburn Symphony Orchestra are steady. Marketing initiatives for McManus Comedies and BRAVO! Kids are underway. VI. Other Business One of the King County Performance Network site-specific piece that was scheduled at the SuperMall in November has been changed. The artist is drafting a proposal for city review to be a part of Auburn's Veteran's Day observance. The City of Auburn announced recently the title of the Parks department has been changed to "Parks, Arts and Recreation." The next commission meeting is scheduled for Monday, November 14, 4:30 pm at City Hall in the City Council Conference Room. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 6:20 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Laurie Rose Cultural Arts Coordinator Oct. 10,2005, City of Auburn Arts Commission Meeting Minutes Page 2 of 2
