City of Auburn Arts Commission
Monday, December 11, 2006, 4:30 pm
Meeting Minutes
Commissioners present: Herman Ansingh, Anne Baunach, Bonnie Egbert, Linda Elliot,
Amanda Flanery, Pat Gallagher, Don Gardner, Steve LePenske, Barbie Sharrard, Pam Smith
Commissioners absent: Kristen Brock, Nancy Colson (Excused)
Staff present: Laurie Rose, Cultural Arts Manager; Megan Myers, Cultural Arts Specialist
Call to order: Commission Vice Chair Pam Smith called the meeting to order at 4:57 p.m.
I. Approval of Minutes
Ms. Smith called for approval of the November minutes. Commissioner Barbie Sharrard
moved the November minutes be approved as submitted. Commissioner Don Gardner
seconded the motion. Motion approved.
II. Election of 2007 Officers
Ms. Smith called for a vote of the Vice Chair for 2007. Nominees are commissioners
Linda Elliott and Don Gardner. Ms. Elliott and Mr. Gardner confirmed their willingness
and availability to serve as the 2007 Vice Chair.
The vote was conducted by secret ballot. Ms. Elliott was elected 2007 Vice Chair of the
Auburn Arts Commission.
Current Vice Chair Pam Smith will advance to the Commission Chairmanship in 2007
per commission bylaws.
III. Staff Report
November Month-end Report
BRAVO
50% of our goals for ticket sales and revenue have been met to date. There are
5 shows left in the regular BRAVO season.
Kids' BRAVO
Charlie Williams performed Noiseguy's Seasoned Greetings on Saturday,
December 9 for the first kids' BRAVO performance of the season. Because of a
positive reception, he will be invited back for a summer performance. kids'
BRAVO Subscriptions are down from last year. Discussion followed regarding
increasing sales.
Photography Exhibit Artists' Reception
There was a very positive response and excellent turn out for the Reception held
on December 1 at City Hall Gallery by Jim Brock, Jan Wieser and John Tolbert.
Staff will encourage future exhibitors to do the same.

Donations
Top Foods has donated 1,000 bottles of water to Auburn Parks, Arts &
Recreation for BRAVO performer hospitality and other recreation programs.
Public Art Program Staff Notes
Notes from the Arts Commission's annual retreat on November 11, with guest speaker
Jim McDonald were dispersed by staff for review. Discussion followed
Policy Drafts
Ms. Rose presented a compilation of Auburn Arts Commission Policies and Procedures
from years past. Review of documentation and discussion followed.
2007Arts Commission Membership
Term limits of Arts Commissioners were discussed. Commissioner Bonnie Egbert and
Don Gardner will not renew membership after their term completion this month. Both
have agreed to serve on action committees or panels.
Proposed 2007 Panels & Action Committees
Ms. Rose proposed a list of panels and committees that would benefit the Commission
to form. The panels include a Public Art Project Selection Panel, a Visual Art Selection
Panel, and a Sustained Support Grant application Review Panel. Committees included
Membership/Nomination Committee, Education/Artisans-in-Schools Committee,
Performing Arts Program Committee, Public Art Program Committee, Visual Art
Program Committee, and Sustained Support Grant Program Committee. Action
Committees may be comprised of commissioners, citizens-at-large, staff and community
stake holders. Discussion Followed. Commissioners are encouraged to review the
information supplied, and sign-up for the committees and panels they are interested in
chairing and/or sitting on.
IV. Other Business
2007 City Hall Gallery Season
Staff presented a PowerPoint presentation of the panel-selected artists who will be
exhibited during the 2007 City Hall Gallery Season
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 6:30 p.m.
