III. Staff Report
Visual Arts
City Hall Gallery Brochure
The first City Hall Gallery Brochure was designed by the Multimedia Department and
Arts Staff and distributed in February. The production of this literature reflects the Arts
Commission's goal to educate the community and broaden appreciation of the arts. It
will hopefully aid in raising the profile of the visual arts program as well as draw more
visual artists to show their work in Auburn, while allowing the community to preview
upcoming exhibits.
Senior Center Gallery
On Friday, January 26, a new gallery wall was unveiled at Auburn Senior Activity Center
by the Senior Center and Arts Commission. Currently, this space is showcasing the work
of Maple Valley Artist Cole Adams.
Portable Art Panels
Maintenance Staff is in the process of constructing bases for our 7 portable art-walls.
This will open opportunities for portable exhibits, as well as expand exhibits at City Hall.
IV. Other Business

For twenty-three years the Washington State Arts Alliance has coordinated Arts Day, a
day when arts advocates from across the state gather in Olympia to meet with their
legislators to discuss arts and cultural issues. Ms. Rose, Cultural Arts Specialist Megan

representatives from the 31 St district along with many arts organizations and advocates
in the region. This is a fun, informative, and pro-active all-day event.
Opera Goes to School
"Opera Goes to School", produced by Seattle Opera will be in residence at Pioneer
Elementary the week of February 12th. The final performance by the kids will be on
Feb.16th at Pioneer Elementary from 1:30-2:30 p.m. The Arts Commission is
