COMMISSION
POLICE DEPARTMENT
Solberg stated that the Sergeants test is scheduled for October 25 and 26, 2005. We
are in the initial stages of planning and will be posting the official announcement within
the next few weeks. Letters have been sent to surrounding agencies requesting
assessors. Chief Kelly stated that the test will be similar to past tests.
FIRE DEPARTMENT
Chairman Kammeyer presented a letter from HR Director Heineman recommending
continuing with our current entry-level fire testing process while researching the Bates
Fire Testing as an option in the future. Booth motioned to extend the current entry-level
fire list until a new list is established; Van Selus seconded; motion was carried. The
Civil Service Examiner will begin preparing testing for a new entry-level fire test
immediately.
There was discussion to limit the maximum number of applications to 150 (vs. the 500
distributed in previous years). Solberg stated that the school will hold up to 250 per
testing session and for the last test we held 2 sessions between 8:00 and 12:00 with a
total of 333 participants. The decision was to follow the same process as the last test
and make 500 applications available to candidates. Solberg stated once we advertise
for the test we will accept applications for two weeks.
