JULY 5, 2005
MINUTES
I. CALL TO ORDER
Chair Nancy Backus called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. in the
Council Conference Room at Auburn City Hall located at 25 West Main
Street in Auburn. Committee members present were: Chair Backus,
Member Roger Thordarson, and Mayor Pro Tem Sue Singer. Vice Chair
Lynn Norman was excused. A[so present were: Mayor Peter B. Lewis,
City Attorney Danie[ B. Heid, Finance Director Shelley Coleman, Human
Resources and Risk Management Director Brenda Heineman, Information
Services Director Lorrie Rempher, and Deputy City Clerk Cathy
Richardson.
[I. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A. Minutes of the June 20, 2005 Finance Committee meeting.
Member Thordarson moved and Mayor Pro Tem Singer seconded
to approve the June 20, 2005 minutes.
MOTION CARRIED UNAN[MOUSL Y. 3-0.
III. CONSENT [TEMS
A. Vouchers

Claims check numbers 342611 through 343025 in the
amount of $1 ,417,745.21 and dated July 5,2005.
2. Payroll

Payroll check numbers 512690 to 512868 in the amount of
$297,092.69 and electronic deposit transmissions in the
amount of $1,040,137.94 for a grand total of $1,337,230.63
for the pay period covering June 16, 2005 to June 29, 2005.

Mayor Pro Tem Singer moved and Member Thordarson
seconded to approve the consent agenda.
MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. 3-0.
IV. ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS
A. Ordinance No. 5920
A3.8.23
An Ordinance of the City Council of the City of Auburn,
Washington, amending Chapter 2.76 of the Auburn Municipal Code
relating to the Auburn Tourism Board
Member Thordarson moved and Mayor Pro Tem Singer seconded
to recommend approval of Ordinance No. 5920.
MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. 3-0.
Mayor Pro Tem Singer noted that the Auburn Tourism Board has
hired a public relations firm to assist with placement of promotional
ads in various magazines, newspapers, and other tourist related
advertisements. They are also assisting in linking the City of
Auburn website on numerous search engines and other websites.
V. DISCUSSION ITEMS
A. Ordinance No. 5924
A3.8.1
An Ordinance of the City Council of the City of Auburn,
Washington, amending Chapter 2.33 of the Auburn City Code
relating to the Municipal Airport Advisory Board
Mayor Lewis explained that changes to Auburn City Code relating
to the Municipal Airport Advisory Board include clarification of the
appointment of board members, jurisdiction of the Board related to
making recommendations, and budget issues.
B. Laptop Replacements - Police Vehicles
Director Rempher advised Committee Members that the project for
replacement of sixteen laptops in Police Department vehicles will
begin soon. Funds for the laptops were budgeted in 2005. The

King County Police Chiefs and Sheriffs Association is contributing a
large portion of the funds needed for the laptops. The current
laptops are very slow and are over five years old. Also, wireless
communications will be installed in twenty-two police vehicles to
make use of the new WiFi system.
VI. ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Committee, the
meeting adjourned at 6:44 p.m.
