ORDINANCE NO. 5857
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, AMENDING SECTIONS
10.40.020, 10.40.025 AND 10.40.035 OF THE AUBURN
CITY CODE RELATING TO OFF-STREET PARKING
WHEREAS, the City of Auburn, Washington, has responsibility for operation and
enforcement of municipal off-street parking facilities in the City; and
WHEREAS, it would be appropriate to list the addresses/locations of such
facilities in the City Code, which listing would more easily facilitate their use, and would
assist in consistent enforcement of regulations applicable to them.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN,
WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Amendment to City Code. That Section 10.40.020 of the Auburn
City Code is amended to read as follows:
10.40.020 Three hour parking limitsMunicipal Off-street Parkinq Facilities.
A. Unless posted otherwise, or as otherwise indicated in Section 10.40.035 or in
this or another Section of the City Code, theAU- _municipal off-street parking facilities
operated by the city listed herein below, unless posted otherwise, are established as
three-hour non-metered parking zones, which three-hour parking limitation shall exist
from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily, excluding Sundays and holidays~~pro'Jided, however,
the Auburn police chief is here'Nith granted, subject to the approval of the mayor,
authority to declare parking moratoriums on parking lots '....here he finds such moratoria
in the best interest of the citizens of Auburn. During such moratoria, the Auburn police
chief is further granted, subject to the approval of the mayor, authority to declare
restrictions on parking and uses for such parking, to control parking and vchicular traffic
within the city.

parkinq at 23 A Street SW shall be short-term fifteen (15) minute parkinq between the
hours of 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday throuqh Friday)
B. Unless posted otherwise, or as otherwise indicated in Section 10.40.035 or in
this or another Section of the City Code, the municipal off-street parkinq facilities
operated by the city listed herein below, are established as two-hour non-metered
parkinq zones, which two-hour parkinq limitation shall exist from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
daily, excludinq Saturdays, Sundays and holidays:
340 E. Main Street (parcel numbers 7331400460, 7331400485, 7331400486,
7331400500 and 7331400510) (Auburn Justice Center); Provided that vehicles with
daily stamped parkinq passes issued by the Auburn Municipal Court or the Police
Department may park for lonqer than two hours.
C. The Auburn police chief is herewith qranted, subject to the approval of the
mayor, authority to declare parkinq moratoriums on parking lots where he finds such
moratoria in the best interest of the citizens of Auburn. Durinq such moratoria, the
Auburn police chief is further qranted, subject to the approval of the mayor, authority to .
declare restrictions on parkinq and uses for such parkinq, to control parkinq and

Section 2. Amendment to City Code. That Section 10.40.025 of the Auburn
City Code is amended to read as follows:
10.40.025 Permit parking authorized. .
The planning director, with the mayor's approval, may issue permits for the three
hour municipal parking lots Municipal Off-street Parkinq Facilities.that exempt the driver
from the time requirements of ACC 10.40.025. (Ord. 5740 § 4,2003.)
Section 3. Amendment to City Code. That Section 10.40.035 of the Auburn
City Code is amended to read as follows:
10.40.035 Auburn city vehicle parking and Auburn city employee permit parking
established.
A. Parking for Auburn city vehicles and permit parking for Auburn city employees
is established at the following locations:
1. The municipal off-street parking lot located at the southwest corner of 1 st and
"A" Streets Northwest (11 "A" Street Northwest).
2. The leased lot at 222 "A" Street Northwest (off of ðfG- Third Street Northwest).
3. The municipal off-street parking lot located at 115 "A" Street Northwest.

B. The lots included in Paraqraph A of this section Section shall be posted with
signs reading "Parking by Permit Only, Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Others Impounded" and "Free, Unlimited Parking Evenings, Weekends and Holidays."
C. Parkinq for Auburn city vehicles and permit parkinq for Auburn city employees,
which is NOT available for "Free, Unlimited Parkinq Eveninqs, Weekends and
Holidavs," is established at the followinq locations:
1. 20 D Street SE (parcel number 8698100030)
2. 102 D Street SE (parcel number 8698100040)
D. Parking spaces exclusively for assigned city vehicle parking on municipal off-
street parking lots shall be marked by the traffic engineer at the direction of the mayor.

Section 4. Constitutionality or Invalidity. If any portion of this Ordinance or
its application to any person or circumstances is held invalid, the remainder of the
Ordinance or the application of the provision to other persons or circumstances shall not
be affected.
Section 5. Implementation. The Mayor is hereby authorized to implement
such administrative procedures as may be necessary to carry out the directives of this
location.
Section 6. Effective Date. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force
five (5) days from and after passage, approval, and publication as provided by law.
