AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, AMENDING
SECTION 10.58.040 OF THE AUBURN CITY CODE
RELATING TO USE OF SKATEBOARDS AND
ROLLER SKATES
WHEREAS, the City of Auburn has regulations that restrict or limit the use
of skateboards and roller skates in certain areas of the City; and
WHEREAS, the current provisions of the City Code identify some
limitations on where skateboards and roller skates may be used and in order to
address the City's concerns regarding the development of the Les Gove Park
campus, it is appropriate for the City Code to be amended to specify that
skateboards and roller skates shall also not be used on any roadways, parking
lots or sidewalks at the Les Gove Park property, Provided that for the purposes
hereof, pathways are to be distinguished from sidewalks.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN,
WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN as follows:
Section 1. Amendment to City Code.
That section 10.58.040 of
the Auburn City Code be and the same hereby is amended to read as follows:
10.58.040 Prohibited areas.
A. It is unlawful for any person to operate or ride upon any skateboard,
or-_roller skates or coasters, upon any street, alley, sidewalk, or publicly owned
parking lot in the Central Business District of the city as described in ACC
18.06.01 0(A)(11) and as delineated in the map attached to the ordinance codified
in this chapter, designated Exhibit A and incorporated herein by reference.
B. It is also unlawful for any person to operate or ride upon any roller
skates upon any roadways. parkinQ lots. or sidewalks at the Les Gove Park.

Provided that roller skates may be used on pathways located in the Les Gove
Park.
C. It is also unlawful for any person to operate or ride upon any
skateboard upon any roadways. parkinq lots, sidewalks or pathways or any other
area of the Les Gove Park other than areas specifically desiqnated for
skateboard usaQe. (Ord. 4386 S 1, 1989.)
Section 2. Implementation. The Mayor is hereby authorized to
implement such administrative procedures as may be necessary to carry out the
directions of this legislation.
Section 3. Severability.
The provisions of this ordinance are
declared to be separate and severable. The invalidity of any clause, sentence,
paragraph, subdivision, section or portion of this ordinance, or the invalidity of the
application thereof to any person or circumstance shall not affect the validity of
the remainder of this ordinance, or the validity of its application to other persons
or circumstances.
Section 4. Effective date.
This Ordinance shall take effect and be
in force five days from and after its passage, approval and publication as
provided by law.
