HomeMy WebLinkAbout3914 RESOLUTION NO. 3914 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, RELATING TO ITS INTENTION TO ANNEX CERTAIN PROPERTY LOCATED IN KING COUNTY ADJACENT TO THE CITY'S WESTERN BOUNDARY WHEREAS, the City of Auburn, Washington, received an application (ANX05-0004) to annex one parcel of land with a total area of approximately four (4) acres located in King County adjacent to the City's western boundary; and WHEREAS, at a regularly scheduled Council meeting on May 23, 2005, the City Council authorized City staff to prepare the necessary annexation petition stating that said area, if annexed by the City of Auburn, will assume the pro rata portion of the existing bonded indebtedness of the City of Auburn; and WHEREAS, the City received a signed petition from the property owner of the parcel, thereby representing 100% of the assessed valuation of the property lying within the limits of the proposed annexation area; and WHEREAS, on August 3, 2005, the King County Assessor declared that the petition was sufficient to meet the statutory requirements for a petition to annex; and WHEREAS, on September 19, 2005, the City Council held a public hearing at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the Auburn City Hall, at which time the City Council recommended approval of said annexation. Resolution No. 3914 September 13, 2005 Page 1 NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, IN A REGULAR MEETING DULY ASSEMBLED HEREWITH RESOLVES THAT: Section 1. City staff is hereby instructed to file the Notice of Intention to Annex with the King County Boundary Review Board. Section 2. The City of Auburn hereby requests the King County Boundary Review Board to approve the annexation of parcel number 9262800325 located in King County adjacent to the City's western boundary, legally described in Exhibit A attached hereto. Section 3. The City Council finds that annexation is consistent with the City of Auburn's goals and policies related to annexation as enumerated in Chapter 13 of the City's Comprehensive Plan. Section 4. The City Council further finds that the annexation is consistent with the King County and City of Auburn comprehensive land use plans and consistent with planning goals of the Growth Management Act (RCW 36.70A.020) and accomplishes the purposes of RCW 36.93.010 which pertains to guiding and controlling the creation and growth of municipalities in metropolitan areas. Section 5. Pursuant to the terms of the annexation petition, all property within the territory proposed for annexation shall be assessed and taxed at the same rate and on the same basis as other property within the City, including Resolution No. 3914 September 13, 2005 Page 2 assessments for taxes and payment of any bonds issued or debts contracted prior to or existing as of the date of annexation. Section 6. The Mayor is hereby authorized to implement administrative procedures necessary to carry out the directives of this legislation. Section 7. This resolution shall be in full force and effect upon passage and signatures hereon.
