HomeMy WebLinkAboutITEM III-B CTTY OF Memorandum * WASHINGTON To: Downtown Redevelopment Committee From: Elizabeth Chamberlain, AICP, Principal Planner Ingrid Gaub, P.E., Assistant City Engineer CC: Cindy Baker, AICP, Planning, Building, and Community Director Dennis Selle, P.E., City Engineer Jacob Sweeting, Project Engineer Date: July 10, 2009 Re: Proposed Pedestrian Lights - Downtown Background Staff brought to the Committee for discussion, at the June 9, 2009 meeting, pedestrian lighting within Downtown as the Main Street Pedestrian Lights are fatiguing and replacement parts are no longer available as "standard issue" and require a custom order. Also, timing is a factor as the Aubum Professional Plaza project is getting close in needing to plan for the reinstallation of the Main Street Pedestrian Lights. Other information for the Committee to consider is that the pedestrian lights (the current downtown standard) have already been ordered for the Aubum Professional Plaza project. The pedestrian lights have not been ordered yet for the parking garage and medical office building project; however, those will need to be ordered very soon. Both projects are vested to the current pedestrian light standard for Downtown. Discussion At the June 9, 2009 Downtown Redevelopment Committee meeting, staff was directed to work with the project team for Aubum Junction on options for pedestrian lights. Attached is a packet of options selected by the Aubum Junction team. Please note that the information was received on July 10, 2009 so staff has had limited time to review these options for costs. Staff would also like to note that the pedestrian light option selected, a coordinated support structure will be selected for the wayfinding signage in downtown. Page 1 of 2 AUBURN * MORE THAN YOU IMAGINED At the July 14, 2009 meeting staff would like to review the options with the Committee and discuss the following questions: 1. Does the Committee want a different standard for Main Street? Yes or No 2. Does the Committee have a preferred option from the selection provided? 3. Would the Committee consider maintaining the current downtown pedestrian light standard on streets besides Main Street but paint the light head black/dark forest green? Yes or No Page 2 of 2 AUBURN*MOR£ THAN YOU IMAGINED 4 Auburn Streetlight Options - Project: Auburn Junction Date: 7.9.09 " SubJect: Light Fixtures Page: 1 of 1 The Berger Partnership PS Manufacturer KIfTI SB'lUX SB'lUX Landscape Architecture Model' Era Beta Lantern Saturn 3 (Option A) (Option B) (Option C) Fixture $2,100 $2,400-$2,700 $1,900-$2,000 1721 8th Avenue N Arm (double fixture) $570 (price included with (price included Seattle,WA 98109 fixture) with fixture) v 206325.6877 f 206323.6867 Pole2 (16') bergerpartnership.com - Steel (round) N/A $525 $525 - Aluminum (round) N/A $565 $565 - Stepped Steel N/A $1,000 $1,000 - Stepped Aluminum $1,975 N/A N/A - Non-standard base cover N/A $250 $250 Color' Black Black Black Banner Arm $300 Possible4 Possible4 $200-$250 $200-$250 Hanging Basket Possibles Possible Possible (Arm)5 $200-$250 $200-$250 (All prices listed are for double fixtures.)
