I. Call to Order
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Len Elliott; those members present in addition to
Mr. Elliott were Lonnie Sundal, Karen Wright, Arnie Galli, and Lisa Harmon. Bryce Landrud.
and Marion Nancarrow were absent. Also attending were Parks Planning and Development
Manager Bob Wuotila, Parks Horticulturalist Kirk Hadley, and Department Secretary Ann Fuqua.
II. Minutes
The misspelling of the London Plane tree was noted. The minutes were accepted with this
correction.
III. Correspondence/Public Input
None
IV. Old Business
A. K Street and 2nd Street Solicitation Status Report
The members have contacted eight households in the tree planting area to discuss the
plans for the street trees; we still need to attempt to contact the other residents. One
resident contacted did not want to participate.
B. Continuing/Second Attempt to Recruit Resident Participation
The group decided to attempt reaching the rest of the residents in the area to solicit
participation. Kirk was asked if the holes would be dug in the right-of-way. He
responded that we will probably have to hand-dig holes as there is cable in that area
which, in the past, has proven to be laid very shallow in that area.
C. Significant Tree Nomination
The decision to recognize the two London Plane trees owned by Marily Dollinger at 12 G
Street Northwest will go forward. Mr. Wuotila will begin the process to take the
recognition to Council.

A. Report on KidsDay and Discussion of Upcoming Events
The word search sheets were at KidsDay and many were handed out. We will continue
to have this piece available when the Department has materials for the public.
VI. Board Recommendations/Input
VII. Department Report
The plant plan for porothy Bothell Park should be complete next month. This area may
become part of another community tree grant.
Questions were asked about the trees in Pioneer Cemetery, and Kirk responded that they are in
slow decline. They have lived a long time, but they drop a lot of limbs. We have planted new
trees where possible there, so when they come down - either naturally or if deemed dangerous
- we will have new growth there.
We have been working on an easement to pave the path near the river in Dykstra and Brannan
Parks. The City Attorneys Office is asking the State to subordinate their easement to the City
which would simplify the permitting for accomplishing the pavement work.
King County is cleaning along the river on the Pautzke Properry
VIII. Adjournment
The members decided that they would not have an August meetingtas many people are busy
ne~ month, or on vacation. The next meeting will be September 8. There being no other
business, the meeting was adjourned at 3:00 pm.
Approved this qaF day of September, 2009
