MAY 4, 1992
The meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m. Those in attendance
were Chairman Pete Whittall, Councilman Rich Wagner, and
Councilman Pat Burns. Staff present were Public Works Director
Frank A. Currie, Asst. Public Works Director Alice I. Conrad,
City Engineer Mary Seabrands, Senior Engineer Dennis Selle, and
Utilities Engineer Rod Linja. Guest was Doug Sovern, Kennedy -
Jenks Consultants.
ISSUES
A. RESOLUTION NO. 2312 - FAA GRANT OFFER FOR IMPROVEMENTS
TO AUBURN AIRPORT
This item was held until the May 18 Public Works
Committee meeting.
CONSENT
A. APPROVE FINAL PAY ESTIMATE NO. 5 FOR STORM IMPROVEMENT
NO. 41, CONTRACT 91-02
The Committee approved the final pay estimate, and
recommended approval to the Council at the May 4
meeting.
B. BID AWARD FOR STREET IMPROVEMENT NO. 287, CONTRACT 92-
05, TO GARY MERLINO CONSTRUCTION FOR ACADEMY DRIVE AND
AUBURN WAY SOUTH, FOR A TRAFFIC SIGNAL AND ASSOCIATED
STREET WIDENING AT THE INTERSECTION OF AUBURN WAY SOUTH
AND ACADEMY DRIVE
The Committee approved the bid award, and recommended
approval to the Council at the May 4 meeting.
C. PERMISSION TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR STREET IMPROVEMENT
NO. 303, CONTRACT 92-07, THE ANNUAL CHIP SEAL STREET
MAINTENANCE PROGRAM AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS WITHIN THE
CITY
The Committee approved the request to advertise for
bids, and recommended approval at the May 4 Council
meeting.

D. PERMISSION TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR STREET IMPROVEMENT
NO. 304, CONTRACT 92-08, THE ANNUAL SLURRY SEAL STREET
MAINTENANCE PROGRAM AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS WITHIN THE
CITY
The Committee approved the request to advertise, and
recommended approval to the Council at the May 4
meeting.
E. AMENDMENT TO THE APRIL 6, 1992 PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE
MINUTES CORRECTING UTILITY BILL ADJUSTMENT TO ACCOUNT
1346-2580
The amount was incorrectly reported as $1,228.03. The
correct amount is $1,288.03, Red Apple Market, 1119
East Main Street.
The Committee approved the amendment to the utility
bill adjustment.
F. PERMISSION TO SURPLUS VEHICLES
The Committee approved the list of surplus vehicles,
and recommended they be declared "surplus" by the
Council at the May 4 meeting.
G. BID AWARD OF AIRPORT CONTRACT 92-10 TO LAKERIDGE PAVING
FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO AUBURN MUNICIPAL AIRPORT
This item is being held until the May 18 Public Works
Committee meeting.
H. UTILITY BILL ADJUSTMENT TO ACCOUNT 1438-3464 IN THE
AMOUNT OF TWO HUNDRED THIRTY-THREE DOLLARS AND TWENTY-
EIGHT CENTS ($233.28) FOR STOBIE AND ASSOCIATES
The Committee approved the utility adjustment, and
recommended approval to the Council at the May 4
meeting.
INFORMATION
A. STORM SEWER SYSTEM OVERVIEW
Rod Linja reviewed with the Committee the storm sewer
system, including the major trunk lines, system
operation, water quality control, Capital Improvement
Program, and answered Committee questions regarding the
system.

B. STATUS OF THE PROPOSED L.I.D. FOR UNDERGROUND POWER AND
STREETSCAPING IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE AUBURN WAY NORTH
PROJECT FROM 4TH ST. N.E. TO 15TH ST. N.E.
Dennis Selle reviewed with the Committee the proposed
LID for undergrounding and landscaping, and addressed
the concerns the Committee members had regarding the
LID formation and project limits.
C. STATUS OF THE CITY SIDEWALK IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM
Dennis Selle reviewed with the Committee the Sidewalk
Program in the 1992 budget, as well as the HUD Block
Grant Program, and the plans for the overall Sidewalk
Improvement Program for the south City and Auburn Way.
The Committee asked several questions regarding the LID
formation procedures which would be followed for this
project.
There being no further business to come before the Committee, the
meeting was adjourned at 6:40 p.m.
