The meeting was called to order by Mayor Clark. Councilmen present: Hitchcock, Kuehn, Rupert, Stalder, Cornwell, Raven and Petersen. Minutes of the previous meetings held Feb. 19th, 26th and March lst were approved as corrected. BOARD 0`r' ADJli3TMEVTS HEARING The Mayor declared the hearing of the Board of Adjustments open on the Fequest of Fobert Petersen for a special property use at 9306 So. 320th. There being r.o one speaking for or against:'.the request the Mayor deelared the hearing closed. It was moved by Hitchcock and 2nd by Cornwell tha* t.he request of Robert Petersents for a Special property use be granted. MOTiON CARRIED ROHR SEWER LINE The Mayor reported that Niatt Malaspina Co. has agreed to install the sewer 1ine to Rohr Aircraft at his bid Ir ice. PUBLIC HEARING WEBSTER ANIVEXATION The Mayor declared the public hearing open on the request of Roy Webster to annex a tract of land south of the City limits of Auburn. Mr. Webster came before the Counrii requesting that the City annex this property with the same zoning as the county had grantPd. He said he would like this prZperty to be annexed as soon as possible. There being no one else speaking for or against the annexation the Mayor declared the hearing closed. It was moved by Hitchcock and 2nd by Kuehn that the request I of Roy Webster's to annex be granted. MOTIUN CARRIED DOG CONTFtOL The City Clerk said he nad received a letter from the City of Enumclaw in which they had enclosed vouchers for the City of Auburn to bill them with. WATER COPiiiviITTEE REPORT Councilman Rupert reported for the uJater Committee saying t hat the committee has made arrangements with tne property owners who wanted to hook up to the water line at the end of the Wolfe Addition. This will cost these property ownerj ~1.00 per front foot or 50¢ per foot on one side of the street. Councilman Rupert reported f.or the Water Committee on the Crouch requestfon the NicPherson property, saying that it is their ~ recommendation that the property owners should pay in lieu of assessments, the same as any other property in the City. Mrs. Crouch said that if was Mr. Mct herson's understan(ling that there wouldntt be any assessments. The NIayor told. Mrs. Crouch to have her Attorr_ey get in touch with the City Attorney to settle this matter. STREET CUNIMITTEE REPORT Councilman 5talder reported for the Street Committee saying that the Street Committee has taken the 4 to 6 P.M. NO Parking signs down• on Fac-t Main Street. NL' ISANCE Mrs. Graf asked the Council if ar.ything has been done about the nuisance at 820 6th St. S.E. The City Attorney said that he will huve the necessa.ry ordi- nances ready for *he next meeting. ~ ..,na:. PARKI NG LO`I' Councilman Hitchcock asked if r,hE City has dona anythi.ng more about the Parking lot at ths Gorner of East Main and Auburn Hve. The Maynr said he has appointed Comm$ttee's to work with the Parking Asaociation. Councilman Rave : felt the city should give Miss Jmith some kind of offer. Councilman Kuehn said he didn't feel this phase shoulci be discussPd at a publ;_c meetin~;. 'rhis was referred to the Water Commil-tee and Water Supt. with power to act to call for bids after Mr. Masse,* signs an agreement saying he will pay all the expense. A letter was received from Ni3*ron Massey requesting the installation of sewer lines in the Massey Addition. This was referred to the Water Committee, Water Supt. and. Engineer. It was moved by Hi_tchcock and 2r.d by Ku.ehn that the City Clerk call for bids to be oper:ed Apri.l 2nd. MGTIDN GARRIED LETTER FRUN1 FARKING CONUViITTEE A letter was received from the Chamber or Gommerce Parking Committee saying that they didn't feel any further action need be taken at this time, A36N. VAiLEV CITIES The City Clerk read a letter sayir_g that the next meeting cT the Hssn. of Valley Cities will be held in Puyallup, Thursday March ?th. SORQPTOMIST Ir;VITATION A letter was received from the Soroptomist Club inviting the Council to a Bingo Party March 14th. BQEIIJG LETTER A letter was received from Mr. Scott of the Boeing Airplace Co. asking about more rental units for Auburr.. The Mayor saici the King County Housing Authority is gdifig to build 60 Green River Homes in the near future. WASHINGT0N TUESDAY iU`iAR C H 'I'HOTVia3' jUI i Councilman Raven asked what nad been done about the Ouit Mr. Thomas has against the Mayor and Counczlmen,, The city Attorney said that the Council mir,utes o_f the last meeting held February 19th should be corrected to saylthat the City Attorney will fi?e apperances for the ArTayor and Councilme , as defendents, until defer.se council can be secured to represent the defendents. It was moved by Hitchcock and 2nd by Kuehn that the correctio be made. MOTIUN CARfi.I 'D ihe City attorney saicl he had filed the apperances for the Mayor ana Councilmen and has served a copy to Mr. Thomas's Attorney. He recommended that tre ctj~y secure legal council to advise the defendents. It was moved by Hitchcock ar.d 2nd by Kuehn that the re- commendatior of the City Attorney be granted. . MOTION CARRI~ It was moved by Petersen and 2r.d by Cornwell that the City Attorney and Finance Committee be authorized to hire other legal council for this case. CITY1.3 INSURANCE The City Clerk said he will work withtthe Insurance Committee on the Gity's Insurance policies. ROHR aEWER LINE The Water-Sewer Committee was iristructed to see how much money Rohr could be reimbursed, on other hook-ups, on their sewer line. This committee is to report back.
