WASHTNGTUN THUAS[)AY NOVEMBER JS, 1957 5pecial meeting af the City Couracil of t'r,e City of Auburn, held at 7:30 P.M. in the Council Chambers at the City Hall. lhe meeting was called to order by Mayor Clark. Councilmen present: HitChcock' Kuehn, Rupert, Snodgrass, and Raven. If Councilmen absent,: ;atalder arAd Pet~,erser. METRO. iviiNICIFAL CORP. PLAN The Mayor explained that the meeting was called far the purpose of studqing the Metro, plan. He said the King County Comrriissioners are going to meet Monday morning, November 18th at 9:30 A.M. to consider the boundry lines. A letter and a Resolutian were received from the Auburn 'ederal Savings and Laan Assn. anci one from the Chamher of Commerce bjecting ta Auburn being included witr,in the boundry liries. The etter and Ftesolution from the "hamber of Commerce had al.ready eeri sent ta the King County Commissioners and Lyle Schneider said e would send the letter ancl kesolution to the Commissioners from he Auburn Federdl Saving & Loan Assn. Couricilman Raven 5aid he didn't feel trie Ghamber should have ent their objections to thP Commissioners without zirst having ontacted the Gity Council. l'he Mayor said anyone had the right to object. Cour,cilman Hitchcock asked if Auburn doesntt go in the istrict now can we go into i.t at any future aate and who will pay/ The; City Attorney said Auburr car< arinex to the District at ny tirrbP and the Auburn District will have to float hevenue Bords o pay the:ir costs. Cauncilman Raven asked if jeattle could stop Auburn from umpzng into the Green River? hiThe City Attorney said the Polutiori Control Commission govea~ s, (:ouncilman Rupert asked if it wauld take 1 mi.ll frorrt our resent 15 mill or if it woul.d be i.n excQSS of the .1~5 mi.ll: `!'he Gity Clerk said it would be in excess of the 15 mills, e said tk,e plar has to pass by a 3/5 ma jor•ity of the Seattle vaters and a 3O5 majority of the rest of the area. 7'he City Attorriey said Kent & Federal Way are asking to left ut of the District. He further said the Comma ssioners control 'inhere Industry cari locate within the Nietro District. It was moved by Hitcheock and 2nd by Kuehn that a letter be s nt to the King County Commissioners takir,g ar*iqn to be withdrawn f am this Di.strici;.
