AUBURN, WASHINGTON TUESDAY DECEMBER 17. 1957
The Mayor asked that everyone stand while Rev. Bird said a
prayer.
Re ular meeting of the City Council bf the City of Auburn,
leld at 1:00 P.M. in the Council Chambers at the City Hall.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Clark.
Councilmen present: Hitchcock, Kuehn, Rupert, Snodgrass,
Raven and Petersen.
Councilman absent: Stalder
Minutes of the previous meeting held December 3rd were
agproved as mailed.
PUBLIC HEARING ANNEXATION
The Mayor declared the public hearin open on the request
for annexation of Truesents 2nd Addition f J St. S.E.) and
surrounding area.
Mr. Glenn Carter said he was in favor pf the annexation.
There being no further comments the Mayor declared the
hearing closed.
It was movtd by Rupert and 2nd by Kuehn that the annexation
be accepted and the City Attorney be instructed to prepare the
necessary ordinance. MOTIUN CARRIED
WATER CUNMITTEE REPURT
Councilman Rupert reported for the Water Committee saying
they had awarded the bid for pipe to Pacific States Cast Iron
Pipe Co., the low bidder.
He further reported that the Committee is going to buy the
16" pipe from Western Utilities, because it is cheaper.
It was moved by Rupert and 2nd by Kuehn that the city accept
the bid of Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe Co. and the bid checks
of the unsuccessful bidder be returned. MOTIUIV CARRIED
STREET CUNMZTTEE REPURT
Councilman Petersen reported for the Street Committee re-
commending that the City Clerk be instructed to call for bids for
a shovel and backhoe.
It was moved by Petersen and 2nd by Rupert that the re-
commendation of the Street Committee be accepted with bids to be
opened January 7th. MOTIUN GARRIED
PURCHASING CUMMITTEE REPURT
Councilman Petersen reported for the Purchasing Committee re-
commending that the City Clerk be instructed to call for bids for
a new Police car with bids to be opened January 7th.
It was moved by Petersen and 2nd by Raven that the recomm-
lenoation of the Purchasing Committee be accepted. MOTIuN CARRIED

It was moved by Rupert and 2nd by Petersen t hat Ordinance
1217 entitled "An Urdinance of the Citq of Auburn, washington,
declaring a public emergency to exirt in the Gity of Auburn,
and authorizin the City Treasurer to expend necessary funds in
he amount of ~34,075•96 for the purpose of paying certain def-
icient accounts described in this Ordinance and directing expen-
iture of said funds from, the Current Expense Fund, and from the
ater Fund", be adopted with the following roll call vote being
i recorded, Kuehn, yes; Rupert, yes; Snodgrass, yes; Raven, yes;
and Petersen, yes.

It was moved by Raven and 2nd by Kuehn that Ord. 121$ entitled
'An Urdinance of the City of Auburn, Washington, relating to and
,roviding for the annexation of a contiguous area of land lying
idjacent to the southerly marginal line of the City of Auburn, .

lating to Bicycles; regulating the pir Chase, s31e and use thereof;
providing for the registration of the issuance and revocation of
licenses; defining offenses and mrsscribing penalties; and
repealing Ordinance No. 785", be~adopted with the following roll

ATTORNEY REPURT
The City Attorney said he would have the Ordinance on the
reqtiest of Manuel Carames, ready for the next meeting.

It was moved by Hitchcock and 2nd by Rupert that Ord. 1219
entitled nAn Urdinance of the City of Aubu.rn, Washington, gradting
a special building permit", be introduced and adopted with the
following roll call vote being recorded, Flitchcock, yes; Kuehn,
yes; Rupert, yes; Snodgrass, yes; Raven, yes; and Petersen, yes.
ORDINANCE N U. 1220
It was moved by Kuehn and 2nd by Rupert that Ordinance No.
1220 entitled "An Ordinance of the City of Auburn Washington;
amending Section 11 of Ordinance Nos llfll and 1111 and prescribing
penaltiss for violation thsreof, which Section 11 relates to the
regulation of vehiGUlar traffic on certain streets in the Ci*..y of
Auburn", bb introduced and adopted with the following roll cal].

SPECTFICATIONS RUR LUCUMUTIVE
The City Attorney submitted the specificatinns for moving the
steam`locomotive to the City Park and asked that the Council
Committee study them.
PARKING ZONES
' Conncilman Hitchcock asked the City Attorney if he had the
Ordinance ready providing for the Police Dept. to issuP tickets
to people who pa.rk in loading zones.
The City Attorney said he will have the Ordinance ready for
the next meeting.
RQHR HEWER
Councilman Raven asked if any#~.hi.ng further had been €ione ta
reimburse Rohr for half the cost of the sewer line.
There was some discussion on what cost the city shotld pay hal

The City Attorney recommended that the city pay half the bid
pice of the cost of the trunk line.
It was moved by Hitchcock and 2nd by Petersen that the Council
accept the rocornmendati.on of the City Attorney of $23,514.69 as
ost and the city reimburse Rohr $11,757•34 in consideration of
:ohr Aircraft Corp. transferring and signing to the City of Auburn
ill claims of any kind and rights in and to the said sewer line
~xtending from in the alley east of A St. S.E. on 13th South

The City Attorney said he has a lett;er from the Mayor autho-
zing him to take action on the Admission Tax.

The City Engineer said they are working on this matter.
VERSOLINKU REQUEST
A request for a loading zone for the Cottage Cleaners was
received from Mr. Versolinko.
This was referrad to the Street Committee and Police Dept.
for study and report back.

' KEIVNETT REQUEST
Roy Kennett asked if the Taxi Company's could have an ex-
tension of time in installing meters in the taxits.
It was moved by Kuehn and 2nd by Rupert that this request
be referred to the License Committee for study and report back
at the next meeting. MOTIGN CARRIED
DANIAGE CLAIM
The City Clerk said a damage claim has been filed with the
City from Vi Shonka and this has been turned over to the Insuranc
Company.
LIONS CLUB REQUFST
A rqquest was received from the Lions Club requesting that
the NP Railway Co. put up a warning system at the M St. S.E'
crossing.
The City Engineer said he is working on this matter.
TRAFFIC LIGHTS
An estimate on the cost of installing traffic lights down
lst St. N.E. and N.W. was received from Valley Electric Co.
This was referred to the Fire and Street Committees.
GOLF CLUB REQUEST
A request to put up 6 sigAS in the city indicating the route
t o the Golf Club was receYVed from the Green River Golf Club.
This was referred to the Police Chief and Street Committee.
DAGGET REQL'EST
A request was received from Mr. Dagget on N St. N.E. asking
that the street be patched in front of his place where the
sewer was repaired and that the city pay the plumbers bill for
determining the break in the sswer.
This was referred to the Water Committee and Water Supt.
AUBURN AVE. BLDG. REQUEST
A request was received from the Auburn Ave. Bldg.bo have
~ their new parking lot striped.
This was refered to the Street Supt.
ROHR REQUEST
1 A request was received from Rohr Aircraft Corp, asking
' that the city sweeper clean their parking lot on the week-end.
' This was refered to the Street Committee and Street Supt.
for study and report back.

A requesG was received from Leavitt Chandler & Co. asking
the city to accept the curb & gutLer, sidewalk and streets in
the new Green River Homes.

DISCUSSION GRUUP N:EETING
The City Clerk said the Auburn Discussion Group will meet
at the Li.brary this Thursday to discuss Urban Renewal. Ne asked
a ny of the Council who eould to attend.
