Gosney, stated that the esta.mated corstructio cost of the well was $45,000 to $50,000 and for a parallei line $215,000. It was moved by Kuenn and 2nd by Rupert that the Council grani a 7 day extension for Auburn Cab to install their taxi meters with the following roll call vate being recorded: Hitchcock, no: Kuehn, yes; Rupert, yes; Stalder, yes; Snodgrass, yes; Raven, no; and Petersen, ysa. it was moved by Hitchcock and 2nd by Kuehn that Roy's Taxi may operate without taxi meters until Feb)ruary 11, 1958• MOTION CARRIED. CITY INSURANCE Councilman Petersen reported for the Special Committee on thP Insurance ro'olem, and the reasons that insurance was raised from $3,000 to ~6,OOO. He reported that the City Engineer has hired a man to check all the sidewalks. He also reported that the committee investigated the number of claims filed against the City, The City Clerk then read a letter regarding this; the letters statE that there has been 2 claims against the City because of bad side- walks. A letter from O.W. Pierson was also read with the list of claims filed against to the City for 1957. City Engineer reported that he has quite a list of bad side- walks aow and should 'nave all the City covered in a week. About ~ of the Faulty places belong to the City. Councilman Raven requested that the City Attorney write a lett to the Firemen's Fund about the claim against the City caused by the hole at the base of the old street light standard. Councilman Kuehn recommended that the Insurancs Committee ask for a resubmission of bids from all carriers interested, also that it be for not less then 3 years. The City Clerk brought up that to abide with the bid laws that the City Council should call fir bids and the Insurance Committee go over the bids and stud,y them. Post ;1741 request for permission to have a carnival from June 16-21, 195$ be granted.
