Councilmen present: Hitchcock, Aaby, Stalder, Petersen, and Towner. Councilmen absent: Rupert and Raven Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as mailed. CONTRACT FOR WELL Citp Attorney stated that he has drawn up a standard form contract for the well. He stated that Mr. Wolfe went over it with him. It was moved by Hitchcock and 2nd by Stalder that the Mayor be authorized to execute said contract. MOTION CARRIED WEBSTER PROPERTY The City Attorney stated that he has copies of the appraisers report on Webster property and also a statement of their services. He would like the councilmen to read the copies. City Clerk state< that the appraisers would have to sign vouchers in order to receivE payment for their services. WATER DEPAR`PMENT Water Supt. stated that a surveyor from Algona Water Depart. was in and wanted to know about getting City Water out there, but he did not know what would come of it. STR.EET DEPARTMENT Street Supt. stated that 12th Street had been oiled with 1 coat and 12th Street Hiway East to M St. will be paved with asghalt concrete with little or no cost to the City. He also stated that the sidewalks have been completed except for curbs on main street. ROTTLE REQUEST St.reet Supt stated that- t.he request from Don Rottle that 24" square signs be erected on 3rd N.W. and 3rd N.E. from N.P.R.R.to Auburn Ave. stating "Slow, Children at Play", was studied by thP coaunittee and they decicled i..f the property owners would place them inside their property it would be o.k. It was moved by Petersen and 2nd by Stalder that a letter be written to the property owners stating that they can place the signs on their property and not on the outside and if they are a uniforrm siZe. MC}TTON CARRIED It was moved by Aaby and 2nd by Hitchcock that the 1st motion be amended to state that the property owners be authorized to place uniform signs in the parka.ng strips under the supervision of the Street Supt. and if they become unsightly or damaged it wi11 be the duty of the property owners to keep them in good order. The frnllowing roll call vote was recorded; Hitchcock, yes; Aaby, yes; Stalder, yes; Petersen, yes; and Towner, yes; HITCHCOCK RESIGNATION Councilman Hitchcock braught up about handling nAlt and "BTM iLicenses and stated that some cities have just one license called a Master License. He also stated that the stop light on Auburn Ave. shauld be completed soon. He hoped that the Urban Renewal would be complet in time. He then thanked the council for their courtesy and also the different Department heads for their co-aperatian and he then tendered his resignation and turned his afficer over to Bon Presc Since Mr. PresGOtt did not have his certificate he could not be sworn in. AUBURN CEMETERY BOARD A request was received from the Auburn Cemeterp Board for approval on the revised scheduled of charges, in which they feel necessary to continus operation and impravement in the Auburn Cemetery. I This was refered to the Finance Committee fo.r study and report AUBURN SCHOOL ' A letter was received informing the plan of the Board of Direc tors relating to street dedication on the property of the So. Aubur Elsmentary School site. It was ordered placed on file. aRDINANCE #1239 It was moved by Stalder and 2nd by Towner that E}rdinance #1239 entit3ed an ordinance of the City of Auburn, Washington relating to and providing for the annexation of the contiguous area of land lying adjacent to the south marginal line o.f the existing city limi,s of the City of Auburn to the City of Auburn which land is described in a petition duly filed with the City C1erk of the City of Auburn be adopted with the follwoing roli call vote being recorded; Aaby, yes; Stalder, yes; Petersen, yes; and Towner, pes; AUBURN PUBLIC SCHOOLS &equest from the Auburn School Dist. for the use of Housing Unite #44 at a rate of $1.00 per year plus labor for painta.ng ex- terior af the bui.JLding be used to house 4 classrooms of elsmentary school for the school year ending Jtne, 1959, Fending the completti of the Sfl, Auburn School. It was moveci by Petersen and 2nd by Aaby that their request be granted and a letter be sent to the HouSing Authority with the understandi.ng that it wll.l be temporary. WASHINGTQN MQNDAY , MAY 26,, 1958 VALLEY LAND Request from Valley Land for the reconsideration of recent "change in Policy" by the Street Committae regarding the City maintenance responsibilities on half paved strests. The City Engineer and Street Committee were ordered to work on it and report back at the next meeting. WASH. STATE DEPARTMENT OF COMERCE Letter informing the Council of a Planning Program, co-ordina - ing all communitq facilities has proved to be the most logical approach for achieving sound communitq development. This was refered to the Planning Commission. CC?NTRACT FROM P.S.P. & LIGHT A contract was received from the P.S.P. & Light Co. for street lighting for a period of ten pears. This was refered to the Street Light Committee to report back. WEBSTER. Councilman Stalder stated that he thought that the Council should make Webster and offer on his property. It was moved by Aaby and 2nd by Towner that the Street Comm. meet with the City Attorney and submit and offer to Mr. Webster and report back in the near future. MOTIf3N CARRIED APPOIMTMENT Councilman Petersen stated that both he and Councilman Aaby turned the3r resignation in for the Park Board. Mayor Denise stated that he appointed Bob Gaines and George Nickelsen on the Park Board and re-appointed J.M. Sullenburger on the Planning Commission. CLAIMS It was moved by Stalder and 2nd by Petersen that the followi claims against the City, all having previouslp been passed and signed by the Finance Committee be approved and the City Clerk be aiithorized to draw warrants in payment.
