The meeting was called -6v d'Lier by Mayor Denise. Councilmen present: Petersen, Fitzsimmons, Towner, Councilmen absenb: Aaby, Rupert, & Stalder. Minuutes of the previous meeting held June 17, 1958, approved as mail.ed. CHRISTENSON and Prescdtt. we re Mr. Christenson appeared before the City Council asking if he could hook on to the sewer. He stated he lived out by Rohr Aircraft. The City Engineer stated there is an ordinance which states no one who lives outside the City limits may hook on to the sewer, ROBERTA KENNETT Mrs. Kennett appeared before the Council asking them to read her lettQr. The City Clerk then read the letter requesting transfer of all City Taxi licenses from her name to J.W. McMasters. The City Clerk stated that the transfer could be made if it is a legtimate sale. It was moved by Prescott and 2nd by Fitzsimmons to transfer all City Taxi licenses from Roberta Kennett to J.W. McMasters. MOTION CARRIED R.K. CALKINS Fire Chief, R.K. Calkins, stated that he received a letter from Seattle-King County Defense stating that there will be Feder 1 Matching Funds for the purchase of communications equipment. The will participate to 50% of the total cost, not to exceed the amou t of $10$5.00. He stated that the Auburn Fire Department should ge approicimately $250.00 back from King County Fire Distrcit #31 for their part. It was moved by Towner and 2nd by Petersen that the agreemen be signed by the proper authorities and sent in. MOTION CARRIED C STREET S.E. SHED Councilman Towner brought up about the old shed on 6th & C St. S.E. He stated that he talked with the Street Supt. and he would like to have it. It was moved by Towner and 2nd by Prescott that the Street Department be given the shed to tear down. MOTION CARRIED Councilman Towner brought up about having no permit system for people to dig across streets, (like the Gas Go. and Etc.) and when they fill the hole up afterwards thex are not thorough and do not leave the street in good candition. He .fe't that the City Attorney should draw up an ordinance requiring persnns to get a permit if they want to dig a hole or etc. and then it must meet specifications of the Street Department when finished, also to set a price for a permit. It was moved by Towner and 2nd by Petersen that an Ordinance be drawn ug for such a permit and a price be set also. MOTIO'N CARRIED ORDINANCE #1244 It was maoved by Petersen and 2nd by Towner that Ordinance n1244 entitled an Ordinance of the City of Auburn, Washington, re- gulating the removal of buildings and Housing units from the Auburn Terrace Housing Project in the City of Auburn, Washington be introduced and adopted with the following roll call vote being recorded: Petersen, yes; Fitzsimmons, yes; Towner, yas; and Presc( yes: HOUSING AUTHORITY AgioEEMENT T`. He also sta°ted he receivpd the first car load of 16" pipe today. STREET StJPT. Street Supt. said he was making progress Qn the storm sewer project on the north end of town. He stated they haue to work care- ful1y because it is so sandy and thsy have quzte a few cave ins. GITX ENGINEER City Engineer s*ated hs has had 3 different requ~sts for petitions I to anna<x into the City. He felt the reasnn is that so many want, ' 'into the City is that the King County is rracxing down on their ' regulations. i BILL BUCGE, DIRECTOR OF STATE HI19AYS Mayor Denise stated that Ball Bugge, wzll be in Auburn July, ' 25, 1958• He felt that one of the new projects should be named after Ihim. The Council members agreed with the iMayor, It was moved by Pstersen and 2nd by Towner that the N.P. overp~ass Ibetween C St. S.W. and A St, S.E. be named Bill Bugge, in his honor'. I MQTION CARRIE Di 'Councilman Prescott brought up a question about how to get a bond issue on the ballot for a new City Ha11. Mayor Denise stated that the Planning Commission requested a meeting with the City Councii on July 10, 1958. This was refexed to the Lzght Committee. LTONS & EAGLES RaDEQ A letter requesting "no paxking" signs be erected along 4th St. N.E. between E St,. and H St. during the rodeo performances bein hPld on Jult;~ 19th and, ZOth, Mayor stated that he talked with the Chief of Police and it is o,k. with him. MOTION CARRIED MARSOLAIS NURSTIVG HQME Letter was received from Mrs. Morrison asking about connectin onto the Cit,y water that goes by the East side of her proparty and various other information. PAGE 2302 AUBURN, WASHINGTON TUESDAY JULY 1, 195$ The letter was refered to the Xater Supt. City Engineer stated that one of the requests for petitions for annexation would takP that area in. POLLUTIQN CONTRQL CQN1MtSSZON City Clerk read the letter £rom the Pollution Commission stat'ng the Sewage Department was not responsible fox the fish ka.ll en Green River. Water Supt. stated he talked to the man from the Commission and he suggested that the City get a modern chlorinator. The Mayor turned it over to the Water Committee to study. PETITIO'1V FOR SPECIAL USE 0'F REAL PROPERTY A petition was submitted for a church site approval for St. Matthew*s Episcopal Church and for permission to use said property for church purposes. The petition was signed by at least 70% of the property owner stating they did not ob3ect. It was moved by Petersen and 2nd by Prescott to set August 5, 1958, for Hearing of Board of Adjustments for the petition of the Episcopal Church. MOTION CARRIED QUARTERLY REPQRT The quarterly report for Punchboard and Amusement Games for April, Ma,y and June, 195$, was read. This was ordered placed on file. LETTER OF CHALLENGE The City Clerk read a letter of challenge that the Mayor want d to send to all citiss in the State of Washington for beautificatio . NINE LAKE PARK City C1erk read a letter from the Nine Lake Park Development in connection for a Worldts Fair Site. There would be a lunch at the Pickwick Inn on July 10, 1958, and then a tour of the property they are offering for the site. Mayor Denise stated he is planning to attend and would like the councilmen to attend also. CITY OF KENT A letter was read from the City of Kent enclosing a copy of a Resolution which was adopted at the last regular meeting of the City Council. They hope that the City of Auburn will adopt a similiar one which would expedite the location and commencement of Worldts Fair Pldnning. This was ordered placed on file. L.I.D. #130 A The City Clerk submitted a claim a ainst L.I.D. #130 fund in favor of Miles Company in theamount of ~363.22 for supplies. It was moved by Prescott and 2nd by Petersen the claim agains L.T.D. #130 be approved and the necessary warrant be authorized. OLYMPIC LANES City Engineer stated that an ordinance needed to be passed approving the plat. It was moved bp Petersen and 2nd by Towner that the Citq Atto - ney be instructed to draw up an ordinance approving the Olympic Les Plat. f MCYI'ION CARRIED I Chief of Police stated that they have some notices all ready to send out informing people about the garbage can ordinance. 2'7~)r G7 a~lr311.lRN,, WASHTNGTON TUESDAY JULY 1. 1458 Mayor Denise stated he thought it was a good idea to put them on frames. He also statsd that the ordinance was going to be strictly Qn£orced, CLAIMS It was moved by Petersen and 2nd by Prescott that the following claims against the City, all having previously been passed and signed by the Finance Committee be approved and the City Clerk be authorized to draw warrants in payment.
