Regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Auburn,
held at 8:00 P.M. in the Council Chambers at the City Halls
The meeting was called to order bp Mayor Denise,
Councilmen present: Aaby, Petersen, Rupert, Stalder, Fitzsimmons
Towner and Prescott.
Minutes of the previous meeting held August 19, 195$ were
approved as mailed,
HEARING OF BQARD OF ADdUSTMENTS
The Mayor declared the hearing of the Board of Adjustment
vpen on the request of M.A. Lightls for a zoning variance.
City Clerk read the request to refresh the Councilmen on it.
Mrs. Don Allison spoke on behalf of the property owners stating
it would be very bad for the property owners if they put a drive
irt on that property.
City Clerk read a petition signed by 10 propertp owners objecting
to the request.
Tt was moved by Fitzsimnnons and 2nd by Rupert that the request
be denied.

The Mayor declared the hearing of the Board of Adjustments
open on the request of Emil Bitzer Bor permission to build a duplex
on 2nd andtjLSt. S.E. I
It was moved by Petersen and 2nd by Towner that Emfl BitZer '
request be granted.

PUBLIC HEARING
The Mayor declared the Public Hearing on the annexation of th
area north of 320th from East Valley Hiway to Harvey Road, open.
No one appeared for or against the annexation so the Mayor declare
the hearing cl,osed.
Zt was moved by Fitzsimmons and 2nd by I'rescott that the
petition for annexation of this area bcunded by East Valley Hiway
and Harvey Road & 320th be granted and the City Attorney be instru
to prepare the necessary ordinance.

STREET LIGHT
Councilman Prescott stated that a street light was needed on
K St. on back of Boone•s Market. It was very dark.
It was maved by Pre3cott-and 2nd by Towner to install a 100
watt street light ca K St. on back of Boonets Market.

from the residents on Park Ave. that the street lights be left on
all n#ght.

1254 entitled an ordinance of the City of Auburn, Washington,
amending Section 10 of Ordinance #956 as amended by Ordinance #113
which is an ordinance regulating the water services anill`prescribin
rates for water service installation and feesg be adopted with the
following roll call vote being recorded: Aaby yes; Petersen, yes;
Rupert, yes; Stalder, yes; Fitzsimmons, yes; ~owner, yes; and
Prescott, yes;
ORDINANCE #1249
It was moved by Aaby and 2nd by Prescott that Ordinance #1249
entitled an ordinance of the City of Auburn, Washington declaring
a public emergency to exist and providing for the expenditure of
$3,333•94 from the Current Expense fund for the purpose of paqment
of the cost of installation of a traffic signal light and for the
new police automobile be adbpted with the fcllowing roll call bein
recorded: Aaby, yes; Petersen, yes; Rupert, yes; Stalder, yes;

to and providing for the annexatioa of a contiguous area of land
lqing adjacent to the northerlq marginal line of the existing citq
limits cf the City of Auburn to the Citp of Auburn which land is
described in a petition dulq filed with the City Clerk of the City
of Auburn be introduced and adopted with the following roll call

roviding for the construction and equipment of a municipal swimminj

f land for the location thereof, and appurtenances, and for the
onstruction and equipment of municipal fire station for the use of
he Auburn Fire Dspartment; declaring the estimated cost thereof ae

SIDEWALIC
Councilman Prescott inquired in how the sidewalk were coming
ong. He stated some have fixed theirts and some haventt.
City Engineer stated as soon as they get caught up with their
rk they will check them.
Mapor Denise asked Chief Ludwig how the garbage can situation
s coming. Chief Ludwig stated that they have taeen short because
vacations but they will start cracking down.
UR,BAN RENEWAL
Lewis Hitchcock ssked about how the Urban Renewal was coming?
City Engineer atated that a report was snet in for acceptance
ut the City has to have a comprehensive plan first.
Councilman Prescott inquired if after the State Hiway Depart.
nstalled the new bridge on M St. if an automatic flasher would be
nstalled. It is very dangerous.

City Engineer stated as soon as the Hiway Department finishes
he project the Railroad would come down and check on the advisibil ty
f installing,automatic flashers.

City Clerk read a petition signed by 7 propertq owners on So.
53rd St. between 90th and 91st for a 6" water main and fire hydran
o serve the property owners. Gost to be financed by an L.I.D.
The Mayor referred it to the Water Supt.

MAYOR QF SEATTLE
City Clerk stated the Mayor received a letter from the Ma.por
of Seattle along with a report of the Legislative Council. The
City Councilmen will be furnished with copies of the report.
GENE L. COLBURN
The City Clerk read a petition from Gene Colburn for rezoning
from residential to residential general.
It was moved bp Preseott and 2nd by Towner to refer it to the
Planning Comznission.

The City Clerk read a letter from the State Hiwap Department
enclosing a blank a.greement to cover the work and costs involved
in moving existing 10" water main from the foundation area for
pier #2 of their proposed structure$ at M St.
It was moved by Rupert and 2nd by Prescott the Mayor be
authorized to sign the necessary agreement.

Mr. McCord brought up about Jennie Crouch propertp. He statE
something shouid be done about it.
It was referred to the City Attorney to write a letter to thE
County Welfare.
L.I.D. #134
The City Clerk submitted a claim against L.I.D. #134 fund in
favor of Rainier Asphalt in the amount of $720.36 for 15% retainec
percentage.
It was moved by Rupex-t and 2nd by Stalder that the claim agai
L.T.D. #134 in favor of Rainier Asphalt in the amount of $720.36
be approved and the necessary warrant for payment be authorized.
