Regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Auburn
held at 8:00 P.M. in the Ccuncil Chambers at the Citp Hall in
Auburn.
Councilmen Present: Aaby, Petersen, Stalder, Fitzsimmons,
Towner, and Prescott.
Couneilman Abgent: Rupert
The minutes of the regular meeting held September 16, 195$
were approved at mailed.
PUBLIG HEARING
The Mayor declared the Public Hearing open on the Assessment
Roll for L.T.D. #134. No one appeared to speak for or agai.nst saic
Assessment Roll so the Maqor declared the hearing closed.
It was moved bq Aaby and 2nd by Towner that the assessment
roll for L.I.D. #134 be approved and the Caty Attorney be instruct4
tv prepare the necessarq ordinance. I

HIDS
Bids for grading and graveling of 6th N.E. was received from
Heisserman Fuel and Heating.
It was moved by Stalder and 2nd bp Towner to refer the bid
ta the Street Committee and City Engineer with power to act.

Bid was received from Rainier Asphalt f,or paving of 6th N.E.
Tt was re£ered to the Street Committee and Citp Engineer with pom
t o act.

Mr. McAbee appeared before the Council in regarda to the park:
restrictions around the I.iauor store. He wou.ld like someone to go
out and check the area.
This was referred to Street Committee and Police Chief,
SPEAKER SYSTEM
Councilman Petersen stated he eontacted Parks Radio about the
Speaker system. Mr. Parks stated he was not in that business any-
more. Valley Electric is the on*y other one he knew of and they
quoted a verbal price of $362.00.
It was moved by Towner and 2nd by Prescvtt ghat the matter be
tabled for further investigation.

STRSET LIGHTING
Councilman Prescott passed out some diagrams the P.S.P. & Lig
Co. Engineer drea up of the South Dale Addition showing where stre
lights should be installed.
lir. Aspinwall stated they start billfng 30 days after lights
are up.
It was moved by Prescott ano. 2nd by Towraer t_o instruct the
Puget Sound. Pawer and La.ght Co. to, install the street lights as
slaawn on the diagram during the morath of NOnember.

It was moved by Prescott and 2nd bp Petersen that Ordinan'ce
#1262 entitled An ordinance.of the City of Auburn, Washington
providing for the rezoning of certain property in the City of
Auburn changing the zoning claas of said property from R-60 to C-1
be introduced and adoptod with the following roll call vote being
recorded; Aaby, yes; Petersen, yes; S~alder, yes; Fitzsimmons, yes
Towner, yes; and Prescott, yes;
ROHR AGREEMENT
Agreement Nas read dated QCtober 7, 1958 was read by the City
Attorney which as read by the City Attorney agreed in offering
paying Rohr half for the complete 4wnership transfer by.Rohr to
City of Auburn complete ownership of the sewer line from 13th
S.E. So. to State Hiway #5 Rohr Aircraft property.
It was moved by Aabp and 2nd by Prescott that the agreement
be approved.

It was moved by Aaby and 2nd by Petersen that Resolution #41
entitled A,Resolution of the City of Auburn, King County, Washingt
directing the Mayor of the City of Auburn and the City Clerk to
enter into an agreement with Rohr Aircraft Corporatibn to take
over the complete ownership of sewer line construct by Rohr Air-
craft and directing the City.Treasurer to pay for _said sewer line
out of the sewer Cumulative Reserve Fund be introduced and adopted
with the follrnwing roll eall vote being recorded; Aaby, yes;
Petersen, yes; Stalder, qes; Fitzsimmons, yes; Tanwner, and Prescot
qes;

City Clerk read a request for rezoning oP prope~.^tp on 2nd
and D St. S.E. from multiple housing to speaial purpose prcperty
on 2nd and D St. S.E. fro a 15 unit apartment house.
City Engineer stated he could not see anpthing wrong with it
if there Were no objecti0ns from the property owaers.
It Mas moved by Towner and 2nd bp Prescott that October 21,19
be set For a publie hearing of the Board of Adjustments on said
request*
and fire hydrants to serve the area as shown on a attached map.
It was signed by 58.62% of the propertp owners.
It was moved by Towner and 2nd bq Prescott that it be placed
on file for further studq.

district be created for the purpose of constructing water mains

NICHQL A. WARD
City Clerk reada letter from Niphol A. Ward stating some years
ago he entered into a contract._with the City of Auburn regarding
furnishing water to his property line, east of the City limits.
He has sold the Easterly portion with thes house on it and retained
the westerly portion. He requested the City Council agree to can-
cel this contract. By doing that the buyer of the Easterl,y pozYtion
of property could purchase a meter and have it installed on his
line. This way the City of Aubura would charge for .meter water
outside the City limits accarding to qour ordinance rates and I
riuld not be responsible, except for rny property which is already
metered.
Water Supt. stated the City wouldn*t loose much off c►f it.
City Attorney stated he would submit and ordinance for can-
celling the contract at the next meeting.

!:a.t°Fv Cle.rk read a letter from Mark Hedman requesting the City
to install a six ineh C.I. water main with two fire hydrants on
F St. S.E.
It was moved by Prescott and 2nd by Fitzsimmong that it be
refered to the Water Comazittee with power to act.

City Clerk read a request from Nlrs. Carames that a street
light be installed at Sth and North Division streets.

City Clerk read a letter from the Wash. State Dept. of Commeroe
and Economic Development regarding the Urban Planning Assistance ;
Grant Program. ;
City Engineer stated he contacted Mr. Kirry and he will be in;
Auburn on the 14th of Uctober, 1958, and will have it ready for
the Council meeting and have it in to 4lympia by the deadline the ~
29th.
A.L. BRISTER
City Clerk read a letter from A.L. Brister with a plat attachOd
af proposed trailer home sub-division. The lots would be sold to ;
Trailer ownErs and restricted to railers onlp.
Thzs was referred to the Planning Commission. !
KTNG CQUNTY SIVIL DEFENSE
The City Clerk aread a letter from the King County Civil Defen:
stating that on Saturday the Boys Scouts would bs around lianding
Civil, Defense booklets out. This copy was turned over to the pres:
for publication.
FTNAL ASSESSMENT BE3R L.I.D. #132
The City Clerk submitted the final assessment roll for L.I.D.
#132. It was ordered placed on file.
QUARTERLY REPURTS
Quarterly reports from Po].ice Court, Cemetery Operations,
Building permits, Punchboard & Amse. Games Operations for July,
August, September, 195$ were received.

be placed on file.
