The meeting wa,s called to order by Mayor Denise. Councilmen present: Aa.by, Petersen, Stalder, Fitzsixnmons, Towner, Prescott Councilmen abgent: Rupert. Minutes of the previous meeting held December 2, 1958 were approved as mailed. PUBLIC HEARING RUPERT REQUEST i The Mayor declared the public hearing of the Board of Adjustments open on the request of Glenn ftupert for remodeling his haane on 20 M Street N.E. into an apartment. It was moved b Tov~mmer and 2nd b Aab that the re uest be y y y q granted and the City Attorney be instructed to draw up the necessary ordinance. MOTION CARRIID RYANS REQUEST The Ma.yor declared the public hearing open on the vacation of alley on s. Frankie Ryans praperty. There was no one present to voice their objection, so the Mayor declared the hearing closed. It was moved by Petersen and 2nd by TaHmer that Agrs. Ryans request be grant and the City Attorney be instructed to draw up the necessary ordinance. MOTION CARRIED SCHMITT The Mayor declaxed the public hearing open on the request of Mr. dc Mrs. Sc to vacate a portion of the alley adjacent to their home. There was no one resent to voice their objection, so the Mayor declared the hearing elosed. It was moved by Towmer and 2nd by Fitzsimmons that the request be granted "th the City retaining a utility easaanent, and the City Attorney be instructed > o prepair the necegsary ordinance. MOTION CARRIID CLINTOAi L. HERGERT REQUEST A letter wa.s submitted by Mr. Clinton Hergert of the Valley Land Office esting that they be allawed to withdraw their petition for annexation and names on the original petition be attached to and made a part of the new tion whieh included a larger area. It was moved by Towner and 2nd by Prescott that the City Council a71ow the inal petition to be withdrawn and that January 6, 1959 be set as the date a public hearing on the new petition. It was moved by Stalder and 2nd by Petersen that this request be denied. MOTION CARRIED LICENSE COiOiITTEE License committee recomznended that the application for Cabaret License for the Silver Slipper be granted. It was moveci by Aaby and 2nd by Petersen that action on this request be deferred till rmxt council meeting. on ~ s MOTION CARRIID PAGE 2269 AUBURN. WASHINGTON TUESDAY DECIIKBER 16. 1958 WATER SUPT. REPORT The Water Supt. reported that they had replaced the wooden water main from Ram Tank to the Enumcl.ax Highway and that they have made a temporary road at the:Ernumclaw Highwag. A request was macie for a new cyclone fencs to be laid axound the resevoir to prevent people from breakin,g in. Someone had broken into the shed which holds most of the equipment for the resevoir. It was moved by Stalder and 2nd by Prescott for the request to be turned over to the Water Dept. for inveatigation and a report be given at the next cauncil meeting. MOTION CARRIED STREET SUPT. No report Lt3UD SPEAKEft SYSTEM REQUEST It was movel by Petersen and 2nd by Prescott that a loud speaker system be instslled in the Council rocxn. An estimate of $350 was to be spent for this system. MOTION CARftIEU ENGIAIEERS REPORT No report OLD BUSINESS There xas no old business to be discussed. NEW BUSINESS It was moved by Petersen and 2nd by Prescott that a Bronze Plac be the Bugge Bridge. MOTIOIJ CARRIED WEST GOAST MECHANICAL CON2'RACTORS$ INC. REQUEST The City Clerk read a letter fran West Coast Mechanical Contractors requ forty=five day extension. Mr. R.E. Wolff, consulting Engineer, had signed e letter approving this extension. RADIO KASY REQUEST The City Clerk read a letter from Radio Kasy offering to donate $35 ;o the Parking Meter Fund in return for free parking at all meters on Main 5t. 'or Saturday, December 20. It was moved by Towmer and 2nd by Prescott that this request be granted 'or Saturday, December 20. MOTION CARRIED PLAATNING CCJMNIISSIOAI REQUEST The City Clerk read a letter frem the Planning Commission reporting their osition to the proposed legislation, governi.ng future annexation of ncorporated areas adjacent to cities, This letter was ordered to be pla.ced Pile. PETITION FOR ANNEXATION Apetition for annexation of all property between 12th St. S.E/ and So. 35 iot naw in the citp was submitted to the City Council. It wa,s moved by Aa,by and 2nd by Towmer that a hearing vn this petition is set for January 6, 1959. MOTION CARRIED PAGE 9270 AUBURN, WASHINGTON TUESDAY DECEMBIIR 16. 1958 POLICE CHIEF ftEQUEST Police Chief request permi.ssion to purchase Radar equipment as provided far in the 1959 budget. It was moved by Petersen and2nd by Prescott that the Police Chief be granted this request. MOTION CARRIED COMPLAINT A property awner complained about the darger at the intersection of 3rd and "Att Strset S.E. do to the hea.vy traffic. Cauncilmen Stalder stated that they are going to extend 3rd Street on through to "Ctf Street S.E. An attempt will be made to have the State Highwag Dept. install the necessazy traffic light .
