Aegular meeting of the City Council of the Citq af Auburn,
held at 8:00 P.M. in the Council Chambers at the City Hall.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Denise.
The Mayor asked everpone to atand while Rev. Underwood gave
Invocation.
Coomcilmen F'resent: Aaby, Petersen, Rupexrt, Stalder,
Fitssimmons, Towner, Prescott.
Councilmen Absent: None
Minutes of the previous meeting held December 16, 195$ v+ere
approved as mailed.
PUBLIC HEARING
RYANS RFQUEST
The Mayor declared the public hearing open can tbe vacation of
allep on Mrs. Frankie Ryans property. There was consideralle talk
abbut this vacation. Mr. & Mrs. Purple voiced their opinions abou
not vacating the elley until the new alley is finished# because
there is no other May for people to go in or out oF the allep.
The delay in the new alley is bacause there seems to be a telephon
pQle in the way. Engineer, George 3chuler, said the Telephone Cc.
Nill be out this aeek to remcve it. The Mayor declared to let the
vacatiug of this alleq go until the-tew oae is finished.

SCHMITT
The Mayor.declared the public hearing epen an the request of
Mr. & Mrs. Schmitt to vacate a portipn of the alley adjacent to
their home. There vaac ao one there to voice their objection so
the Mayor declared the public hearing clvsed.
It was moved bp Fitzsimmons and 2nd by Prescott that the
reqnest be granted and the Citq Attorney be instrueted to draw up
the necessary ordinance.

AWNEXATION R$QUEST
The Mayor declared the public hearing open on the annexation
property South of Rohr Aireraft down to 364th St. and MA" St.
east line of Rahr. Mrs. Peteridge asked about the northerly and
westerlq lines. Engineer, George Schuler, shoMed aMrs. Peteridge
the map explaining this portion of land.
It was moved by Towner and 2nd by Prescott that this annexa-
tion be appruved and that the City Attorney be instructed to draw
up the proper ordinance.

The Mayor declared the public hearirig opek on the annexation
af prcperty west of the Green River, So. of $th St. N.E. and east
of R. St. N.E. Dr. Hughes asked the city to take into consideratio
the sise of lots and also the tqpe of home to be built, etc. There
wsre no further questions so the Mayor declared the hearing closed.

The Mayor declared the public hearing open on the annexation of
propertp east of "Nf" St., near White Lake and the EnwuclaM Highway,
past the Red Rooster Tavern, Mr. W. Churchill asked how long it
would be before improvements would be made, and also whether the
'taues would be reised. Engineer, George ScMulsr, said tht the
'improvements would be depended upan the property ownersp The taxes
'would not be raised, bat if an L.I.D. were formed tlare would be ,
~a special fee that would have to be paid. The question was rai.sed '
,as to whether that area could depend upon the city incase of emergeocq;
iImmediate service would be available. Mr. Earl Grvsdidier asked it~
!there would be impravements on the streets. Engineer, George Schuler
;said it would be the same policp as the county, and the city is ~
,reliable for all improvements. There were no fuxther questi.ons so ;

TMe Mapor deelared the public hearing open on the annesxation of
property Sa. of 12th St., No. af 356th between "A" St. S.E. and "Rn
St. S.E. Mr. Ransone voiced his opinion about the raad condition i
that area. Engineerf George Schuler, stated that all roads would
be taken care of by the city. Mr. Ransone also asked about the
zoning. Engineer, George Schuler, stated that this area will remai
strict zoning until the people request otheraise.
It was moved by Towner and 2nd by 5talder that the hearing be
closed and the City Attcrney be iastructed tc draw up the neaessarp
ordinance.

STREET SUPT. REPORT
No report.
ENGIATEER REPORT
There was a meeting with the State Highway Dept. requesting
that they supply additional funds to vicyden "+C" St. N.E. from
2nd st. to the city limits. They also requested that the State
Highway Dept. establish new truck toutes through Auburn so that
truck traffic would be 1im3.ted on Niain 3t. These truck routes
will not be posted cn residential streets.
OLD BUSINESS
There was no old business to be discttssed.
NEW BUSINESS
There was an incenerator meeting held, and another one will
be held next moath for further discassion.
It was moved by Towner and 2Ad by Prescott that the City Cle
be instructed to write a letter to the press and radio station
asking the resideaces of Auburn to cc-operate in keeping the city
streets clean.

EMPL4YEES VACATION
Stalder, Prescott, and Towner were appointed as a committee
tc investigate the vacation time for all city employees.
AUBURN AUT4 PARTS REQUFST
The City Clerk read a letter fron► the Auburn Auto Par~a
requesting a customer parking zone in front of their establsihment,
Mr. T.W. MeGlenn had signed the letter asking for the request.
NEISON JEWELERY REQUEST
The Citp Clerk read a letter from Nelson Jewelery requesting
permission to rent parking area on Auburn Avenue, previously
occupied bp a taxi eompany. Mr. Donald Adelson si.gned the letter
requesting for permission.

be turned over to the Police Dept. and Street Committee for
consideration and a report be given at the next meeting.
