Bids for supplying the Water Dept. with fencing were submitted by Colorado Fuel & Iron Corp. bidding $6069.00; Seattle Fence bidding $5869.75; and Cyclone Fence bidding $5745•00• These bids were referred to the Purchasing Committee and Water Supt. wzth pawer to act. CQMNiITTEE REPORTS FINANCE They have looked into the extra payroll wage rates. They decided the rate should be raised from 1.871 to 2.00; It was moved by Aaby and 2nd by Kammeyer that the extra payroll rate be raised from 1.872 to 2.00. MOTION CARRIED It was moved by Aaby and 2nd by Prescott that the Rohr Aircraft obligation , be paid from the Sewer Cumulative Reserve Fund and a loan from the Sewer Reserve'I Fund. MOTION CARRIED PURCHASING The Purchasing Committee awarded bids to Valley Nlotors from the group that was opened on February 3, 1959. MOTION CARftIED A request was made from Cottage Cleaners about installing loadirg and unloading zones in front of the buildirg for customers. The Police Chief stated that they have been inquiring about parkirg meters that would use pennies, nickles, and dimes and place this type of ineter in f'rant of businesses that require short time meters. It was moved by Towner and 2nd by Fitzsimu~ions that the Mayor be instructed ;to ask the Treasurer and City Clerk for a Semi-annual financial report, with ! the first one due next, regular council meetirg. FyiOTIQN CARRIED ROSS PICKET REQUEST Ross Picket presented the City Council with a design showing how 2-hour free parking sign would look. This request was turned over to the Street Committee and Chief of Police. ROTHLEt7TNER REQUEST i~ir. Rothleutner wa4ted to know charges for city water outside city limits. It seerrls that they have paid for all installation and the City Water Dept. just reads the meters. The City Attorney stated that an increase i.nside the city effeets the outside users on the same ratio. WATER RATE REQUEST There were several people voicing their opinions hbout the inereased water rates. Thezr argument was to have the cubic feet raised during the tnree summer months. It was moved by Aaby and 2nd by Petersen that the Water Coirunittee be appointeit ta investigate these rea,uests and make a report next regular council meetirg. MOTION CARRIED I-ENLINE REQUEST An attorney for Nr. Henline inquired about what was being done about obtaining a francise fnr d bus system in Auburn. It was reported that the City Attorney and Street Committee wexe ~oing to discuss this further and a report would be given next reguZar meeting. NEYJ BtTSINESS Nayor has appointed George Schuler.as Planning Director. DON RICE REQUEST Rir. Don Ri:ee was representine, the people from his axea for enterirzg the City of Auburn. This area is presently in the Town af Pacifie. The City Attorney stated that these peaple would have to present petitions for the people oflRuburn to sign, stating that they would like to have this axea annexed to Auburn. The City Engineer should meet with the Town of Pacific to disuces this matter. It was sta-ted that the exact location of church would have to be known before plans for the streets could be m:ade. COftRESPONBENCE The City Clerk read a letter frotn the Christian Scientist Church petitionirg for rezoning. The letter was signed by William E. Dray. This letter was reYerred to the Planning Commission. aR.EV. JOHN C. EGERDAHL REQUEST The City Clerk read a letter from the Pastor of theluburn Gospel Fabernade requesting permi.ssion to move a house from Tacoma to Auburn. It was moved by Aaby and 2nd by Towmer that this be referred to the Boarc3 oflAdjustments for a special property use and that a public hearirig be set for Rarch 3, 1959. MOTION CARRIED PAGE 2292 AUBURN, WASHINGTON TUESDAY FEBRiJARY 17, 1959 QEVENTH DAY ADVEN'1'TST CHUKCH REQUEST The City Clerk read a letter from the Seventh Day Adventist Church requesting permission to hang a 40 foot street banner across Main Street for a 1 period of three weeks. This banner will announce rneetings to be held in th church. It was moved by Prescott and 1nd by Aaby that this request be granted. MOTION CAARIED k$10.00 fee will be chargedt'or adjustments made, as stated in an Ordinance passed in 1956. It was moved by kTowner and 2nd by Fitzsimmons that this request be refer to the Board of Adjustments and a Public hearing be held March 3, 1959. MOTION CARHSED ODEGARD REQUEST The City Clerk read a letter fron G.E. Odegard petitioning to the City Council to rezone property, described in letter, fron unclassified to RG so a modern apartment house can be constructect. This letter was referred to the Planning Commi.ssion. PROPERTY Ot,,MERS REQCJEST The City Clerk read a letter gigged by 14 property awners, requestiang the City of Auburn to prohibit heavy trucks usirg 3ad St. N.E. Several reasons were stated for this request. This letter was referred to the Street Cornmittee.
