Regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Auburn,
held at 8:00 P.M. in the Council Chambers at the Citv 'rIall.
The mee*ing was called to order by iviayor Denise.
Councilmen Present : Aaby, Petersen, Kamrnever, Stalder,
Fitzsirnmons, Tawner, Prescott
Councilmen Absent: l~one
Plinutes of the previous meeting held August 4, 1959, were
app.roved as mailed.

Earl Clark presented a request tnat the en'.ire alley be
vacated, rather than a portion as was orginally requested.
It was moved by Kamrr~ever, ar.ci 2r.d by Prescott that the City
Attorney be instructed to prepare a resolution setting the date
f or Public Hearing on this revised request.

Because of the purchase of Water Dist. #$0, it is necessary
for t-he Water Dept. to purcnase addressograph and. Grapliotype
rnachines.
It was moved by Kammeyer• and 2nd by Fitzsimmons that the
later Dept. purchase these two machines because it takes six to
eight weeks for delivery,

o purchase property on the West iIighway for a chlorinator plant,
ut the people have been very stubburn about selling.

Councilman E.ammeyer stated that they had, a meeting eariler
ith Mr. Richard Wolff, in which they discussed the po5sibilitjr
f the three projects the Water Dept. might do. Thev discussed
the possibility of the Ci' V of Algona buving water frorri the City
f Auburn, also about replacing a 6" line, and the extension of
the Water system on East Hz_11.

the petition to vacate the alley between 6th & 7-11, S.E. One oi t
the property owners had sole out, but the new occupants have
signed the petition agreeing to vacate this alley.

The Greyhound buses have been dreating several complaints
among the residence, Councilman Prescott stated. that the drivers
are complaining aY?out havino to go dawn the alley, because it is
so rough, it is causin~ too many repair bills. They are going
to try and find some difi erent Boute for the buses to follow.

A group of property owners from Southdale addition appeared
before the Council to protest, the construction of a p.rivate road
through 1,1ead property to be used by the heavy trucks of both 14ead
and i•,liles companies. 'llhere was considerable discussion on this
rnatter, and a petition of protest was filed.
It was moved b;T Prescott and 2nd by `,"owner that the Mayor
appoint a committee consisting of three councilmen, City 'ngineer,
and Water Supt. to meet with these property owners and 141r. itilead
and i~Ir. itliles tc work out a satisfactory solution.
