Reference: Overview of our current Curfew Ordinance
The Auburn Police Department has not encountered any issues of concern with the
City's Curfew Ordinance. The impact of the chapter is that it is another tool for use in
enforcing laws with respect to juveniles.
Statistics noted below are approximate figures as certain juvenile contacts are when an
adult is arrested. The adult arrest is the predominant code; therefore, the juvenile contact is not detected without hand searching. Additionally, infractions may have been
written to juveniles that do not appear on reports when no case number was issued.
2006 - 519 reports involving juveniles. 618 juveniles arrested. 50 juvenile contacts &
arrests during curfew hours. Includes 2 assaults, 4 burglaries, 1 elude, 2 weapons
offenses, 6 thefts, 7 vandalisms, 1 stolen vehicle, 6 warrants, 5 trespasses, 8 traffic, 1
alcohol offense and 7 others.
2007 - 498 reports involving juveniles. 601 juveniles arrested. 53 juvenile contacts &
arrests during curfew hours. Includes 1 assault, 4 burglaries, 5 thefts, 5 vandalisms, 7 trespasses, 6 traffic, 3 stolen or recovered vehicles, 7 warrants, 6 weapons offenses, 5
alcohol offenses and 4 others.
2008 - 749 reports regarding juveniles: 735 juveniles arrested. 63 juvenile contacts &
arrests during curfew hours. Includes 8 assaults, 3 burglaries, 6 thefts, 4 vandalisms, 9
trespasses, 4 traffic, 2 stolen or recovered vehicles, 7 warrants, 11 alcohol offenses and
9 others.
2009 - 563 reports regarding juveniles: 533 juveniles arrested. 37 juvenile contact &
arrests during curfew hours. Includes 5 assaults, 1 burglary, 4 thefts, 2 vandalisms, 2
trespasses, 3 traffic, 7 warrants, 2 weapons offenses, 4 alcohol offenses and 7 others.
No citizen complaints have been received regarding the enforcement of this chapter.
