SUBJECT: V. OTHER. BUSINESS: B. Review of 2011 Planning and Development
Work Plan
At the Commission's January 4, 2011 scheduled meeting, Planning and Development
staff will discuss the anticipated work plan for the 2011 pertaining to expected text
amendment activity, policy discussions and considerations and the annual
comprehensive plan update effort. In addition, staff will discuss its key goal of keeping
the Planning Commission actively _engaged throughout the year by minimizing meeting
cancellations and scheduling policy celated work sessions when there is not a public
hearing or similar action item planned.
As- part of the 2011 work pla.nning, staff anticipates restarting the :zoning code update
work-efforts begun in 2008 with the frst phase completed in late 2009. This.phase of the
code,update effort will focus on other chapters of the zoning code including but not,
limited to non-residential chapters, parking and loading standards and landscaping
standards... There are also several code related initiatives that staff began work in mid to
late 2010 that are expected to be brought forward for Planning Commission review and
consideration. These initiatives include new and updated policies for microbreweries,
site plan review and master planning.
Additionally, the Aubum City Council conducted a retreat at the end of October 2010
that focused on 20-year visioning to 2030. There were several items that came out of
the Council's retreat tHat staff anticipates starting work on in 2011. Staff will brief the
Planning Commission on these expected work efforts.
